“You’re about to overcome something you’ve been dealing with. Your mind and heart will be at peace again. Be patient with yourself.”

Is there anything I could have said or done differently? These thoughts will never leave my mind.
They shouldn't.
We should be reflecting on our words and our actions and the impact they have on others every single day.
I’ve been thinking about the way we communicate. About the way I communicate. In our society, resilience is power. We are supposed to be strong, we are supposed to go through tragedy and heartbreak and loss and come out on the other side as more resilient and capable human beings. Everyone tells us that we will get through horrible times. We have to get through horrible times. We have to accept what has happened to us, change our thought processes, and become stronger from these events.
We all deal with tragedy differently.
WHAT IF instead of accepting being mistreated, instead of accepting that people and situations will break us and hurt us to our very core and that we need to become stronger from these incidents...
....WE BROKE THE CYCLE?
What if we taught compassion, kindness, acceptance, thoughtfulness, and effective communication as the fundamental concepts within our educational systems? What if we taught our children, our families, our brothers and sisters about being kind, over being tough? More importantly, what if we were taught self love and self acceptance, instead of how to change every little thing about ourselves?
Maybe I preached resilience too much within my words. They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
What if it does kill you?
Maybe if we valued compassion. Maybe if we valued being gentle and soft over being resilient.
Maybe the world would be a different place.
I hope we can learn from this. I hope we can change the way we communicate with one another.

“I love borders. August is the border between summer and autumn; it is the most beautiful month I know. Twilight is the border between day and night, and the shore is the border between sea and land. The border is longing; when both have fallen in love but still haven’t said anything. The border is to be on the way. It is the way that is the most important thing.”

I haven’t met all of me yet.
my dad told me “if a man cares about you, you won’t ever have to wonder how he feels, he’ll constantly remind you” and that really hit deep.
