Buzzfeed's got it right: 25 Ways Anderson Cooper Kicked Ass This Year
Because badasses don't have time to do laundry: Anderson reveals he rarely washes his jeans.
I think there are many different paths you can take to becoming a journalist. I had no formal training. I made a fake press pass and borrowed a camera and started going to war zones when I left college. I spent three years in various conflict areas and then got hired as a correspondent for ABC News. I don’t recommend that path because it is very easy to get killed, and I know people who died doing exactly what I did. At the same time, I don’t think a journalism degree is a requirement for reporting. I think you just have to be a hard worker, willing to make a lot of sacrifices to travel and tell stories, and to have a strong code of ethics that you work by.
Q: You studied political science at Yale and received your journalism training in the newsroom. Do you think journalism degrees have a role, or should aspiring journalists just get out there and do it?

A badass doesn't wait for things to come to them - they seek it out using any means necessary.

Badassery - the capability of being a badass.
A.K.A. a trait Anderson Cooper ABSOLUTELY has
Second rule of being a badass, a badass does not try to be a badass or look tough. A badass simply is a badass.
WHOA. He almost gave a fuck.
“I have gas mask in my office because I took Chem/bio warfare training class so I can report in case of an attack. It’s on a copy of my head made by Madame Tussauds” —@AndersonCooper on Instagram
Badass, because do you have a gas mask just in case in your office?

Oh ya know, just chillin' on a volcano, covered in mud. #badass
Cooper continues to travel to conflict zones despite the risks, despite the very real deaths he has witnessed. ‘I’ve learned just how quick and easy it is to get killed. Literally, the blink of an eye. You see it in movies and you think, Oh, the world stops spinning and there are these long death scenes. It’s not like that. You crumple to the ground and you’re dead.’
Men’s Health - A Travelers Tales (2008)
Anderson Cooper’s desire to see the world has got him shot at and thrown into foreign jails, made him an international icon, and nearly cost him his humanity. The CNN anchor explains what he has learned from snipers, starvation, genocide, Katrina, and the moment he went, ever so briefly, over the edge.
