adjusting to a work and life balance was something he was still getting a grasp of but once their child was in the picture, he felt like he was back to square one. he was confused when she pushed him away. it took him a moment to say anything. “okay fine…” he replied, “i didn’t say stop working completely. i can’t take five minutes out of your work time?” he sighed trying to not blow up on her. the last thing he wants is to ruin her day by saying something stupid. she did need to meet a deadline anyway. “kaia, i’m just trying… had this been the other way, i feel like you would be pissed at me."
when he didn't speak for a moment, kaia knew she had started something she would immediately regret. typically she would quickly remedy this situation and take the blame, but things were very different for her. "five minutes away from work is like five hours for me. i'm already struggling to even get a good thought put together for this script and you keep distracting me. i thought you understood that." she loved his company but zhang was very distracting for her. "what is that supposed to mean?" her eyes squinted slightly at him, trying to dissect his words. kaia understood earlier in their relationship she was insecure which caused her to lash out at him, but she was working on it. "you don't know i would react if this was the other way around."

jonah was coming down from all the adrenaline rushing through his body. nothing ached until he stepped food into her place. he didn’t realize his face was in rough shape until he glanced at his refection when gayoon scattered to get ice. “shit,” he muttered under his breath. he settles himslef onto and runs his hand through his air. “i didn’t intend on showing up like this. he reached out of the frozen bag but retracts it once she goes on to hold it for him. he winced at the initial shock of the cold bag pressed against his face. "a stupid fight at the bar happened, someone just thought he had the right to talk to my friend the way he did.” he explained. “i didn’t think this would hurt this bad.” the male added with a low chuckle.
gayoon wasn't even really that worried about his appearance but rather for jonah's health. "i don't care about how you look. what i care about is if you're okay or not." she brushed his hair away from his face with her free hand while the other held the makeshift ice pack. her worry for him only increased causing her to bite her lip. "you got into a bar fight? you?" she could not believe her sweet and gentle jonah would ever get into a fight... but she could believe how he would defend someone. "you're too good sometimes. but i'm sure your friend appreciates you standing up for them... even if you got a bruise." she lifted the ice pack to take a look at the bruise a little closer. "my silly man." letting out a lovesick sigh, gayoon gently kissed his forehead. "now keep this on your eye - i'll get medicine to help with the pain."

smile instantly appears on her face once she’s pulled into his arms. she wraps her arms around him, a bright laugh leaves her lips. it doesn’t even cross her mind how odd it must’ve been to feel someone grab your hand without saying a thing. "i don’t know i wanted to surprise you.” she shrugged, “maybe keep you company if you wanted it but if you have something planned or something that’s fine. i just wanted to see you."
jasper was over the moon to see minjee, but he quickly realized that now he had to come up with a plan while he went shopping. "well you definitely surprised me." he chuckled nervously but kissed her gently to distract her. how was he going to get her gift without tipping her off? normally he would just suggest she head home but she waited for him... "no. nope, i got nothing planned." he paused before his next sentence. "i do need to go shopping. i completely forgot we are doing secret santa for work and i got to get something for our cook." jasper smiled, slightly proud of himself he thought of something so quick. "sounds good?"

wandering eyes drift at the screen of her computer for a moment. there wasn’t much progress and from the last time he had visited. he knew it was no help that he would check up on her from time to time but since he was home more often, apart of him wanted to spend time with her. “sure you can.” he replied simply noticing her stiff up. “you need a break othewise you'll feel burnt out.” he stops what he does and wraps his arms around her. “c'mon babe.” he whisped pressing a kiss onto the top of her head.
she knows that zhang is only doing what he thought was comforting to her, but right now kaia was not in the mood. "no i can't. i've barely gotten anything written." her voice is tight as she attempts to repress her anger. was she mad at him or herself for the lack of work she's done? kaia tries to relax in his arms but now was not the time. "zhang stop." standing up to escape his arms, she then rub her forehead with thumb and index finger. "i can't just ignore my work to cuddle on the couch with you. can't you see i'm busy."

it sucked how the restaurant was still open but she knew it was a busy time due to the holidays. she roughly had an idea when he would be done work and waited outside for when he was done to surprise him. she sat on the bench outside and instantly got up once he had walked past her. she quickly caught up almost next to him and held his hand, lacing her fingers with his. “surprise!” she grinned looking up at him. the two didn’t have plans ironed out for the holidays but she didn’t want him to spend the evening alone. - @badbov
jasper preferred not to work during the holidays, but the tips justified having to deal with the chaos. he was saving up to get minjee a present worthy enough for her, but it's difficult considering minjee was worth more than anything in the world. he was planning on going to get a gift tonight sincce he saved up enough.stuffing the money into his wallet, he walked outside and nearly fell onto the ground. "what the fu- oh minjee hey!" he held onto her hand and pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her. "babe what are you doing here?"

a dinner at the pub turned into a fight he never thought he would parttake in. he was out with a few buddies from work when a stranger had crossed the line. a simple shove to push the stranger away from his friend turned into a bruised face. truth was he wanted to cancel on gayoon, but he couldn’t get himself to do it. he wanted to see her but not in the state he was in. he cared more about what she thought than his own workplace where he has to be seen on camera. “hey, its nothing.” he ressured her although the bruising told a different story. - @badbov
when jonah arrived at her place, gayoon was going to act coy about him being late but quickly forgot that thought when she saw his black eye. they had only been dating for three months and usually jonah was so polished and put together. seeing him in this state was a total shock to her. "what do you mean it's nothing? look at how purple-ish it is!" gayoon walks around her kitchen trying to find something to ice his poor eye... but she wasn't a sensible women that had plastic bags or an ice pack. "your poor handsome face..." she opens her freezer and grabs a bag of frozen fruit. "what happened exactly?" while sitting on his lap, she places the bag against his eye softly.

she always seemed to be overdoing everything she had on her plate. he wished she could just slow down sometimes. after making her a cup of tea, he placed it gently onto her desk and placed his hands onto her shoulders subconsciously beginning to help sooothe the knots. “don’t you think you deserve a break?" - @badbov
she had no idea that her previous drama would become so popular, but now kaia was in high demand. there was so much pressure on her to get another script out but this time it was difficult for her. with a baby and trying to keep the flame alive in her relationship with zhang, she was stressed. "i can't just take a break." her shoulders tense up despite his best efforts to soothe the tension. "i have a deadline, you know that."
hey you,
yeah, you, quiz fiend.

why was he still following after her after her outburst? honestly, sungyeol isn’t sure himself either. after realising what he was doing he hesitated and considered stopping but an urge deep inside of him caused him to stop and continue following her. “i never said i was going to share them with anybody.” he spoke, ready to defend himself further but found himself stopped due to sowon continuing speaking. he doesn’t claim to be the best person to sympathise with people, but the words left his mouth soon after they arrived on the patio, “i-i’m sorry-” he started, shocked at his own words but deciding to finish his sentence, “i know. i’m sorry that i upset you.”
a small part of sowon was surprised that he continued to follow her despite her continued rejection. if she was in sungyeol’s shoes, she would have easily given up and left. she didn’t look over at him as he spoke, simply staring at the view from the patio. initially blinking away tears, her eyes widened when he actually apologized. she was not expecting that from him. “you’re... apologizing?” sowon meet his eyes, her gaze intense from the sudden shift of the situation. “no... i’m sorry for lashing out on you. i mean i am mad, but not really at you.” she took a deep breath and turned her body to actually be facing him. guilt started to sit in and it made her feel sick - even though she knew that her reaction was correct in some way. “you were just the last straw i guess... i’ve had a lot of people use me without really knowing me. gets hard to deal with after awhile. so i’m really sorry...”

❝ finding hidden spots is one of my greatest talents, ❞ nayoung responded with a pleased grin on her face but she actually meant it. while growing up, it had been a way to just play and find safer spots to do so given their rougher neighborhood. but it turned into a necessity because of said rough neighborhood. a well placed hideaway would mean the difference between a roughed up face and a nice one. as for his appearance, she decided to refrain from actual comment there, besides, she couldn’t look too much better. between work, obligations, homework and her family she had been burning through all her energy reserve. little moments like this really refueled her. ❝ who else will i verbally spar with if i lose you? ❞ she asked, sitting down on the other side of the bench to open up her juice to drink and eat at her snack of bagged nuts and dried fruit. excellent energy and nothing to give her an upset stomach from lingering stress. ❝ i’ll finish faster if you’re not so out of it. ❞ she looked over at him, chewing thoughtfully. ❝ you’re welcome. have you ever tried meditating? i know it sounds hooky but it’s actually nice, especially when you can do it anywhere. there are stress exercises too. ❞ every little bit helped in their lifestyle.
“it’s a fine talent you got there jang nayoung.” hajoon chuckled before taking another bite of the trail mix she had chosen for him. though they were working hard to become doctors, he was terrible when it came to his food intake. if he was lucky, he would eat a sandwich for lunch and maybe fried rice at the end of the day. between that it was all chips and ramen to get him buy. he would visit his family for a good home cooked meal, but didn’t want his parents spending money on him. they did so much for him already, it was his turn to provide for them. “i don’t know you could always start talking to yourself. i won’t tell anyone that you’re going crazy.” he was joking with her and gently pressed his elbow against her upper arm. he’s never done that before and though it was strange to be so relaxed around nayoung he allowed himself to do so for this moment. he felt slightly guilty that she was delaying her own work to make sure he was doing alright. hajoon knew that it would be in her advantage if he just didn’t finish his work. “i actually never tried. i mainly exercise to deal with stress, but i just end up even more tired. i’ll try it out when i got time...” he let a long sigh while clasping his hands together when holding the water bottle. “sometimes i forget to deal with my own health even though we technically have to be models of perfect health. kind of ironic really.” hajoon let out a long yawn before finishing the rest of his tea. “

jinhwan felt helpless as he watched his boss on the phone. however, the sound of the words made him realize that things were not going well ( and it was going to be another long night ). “no, don’t worry,” he shook his head. he didn’t want to make her feel even worse about the whole thing. “why don’t you take your time and get this sorted? i can go buy us some dinner so that we have the energy to keep going, hm?” he set down the files that he had in his hands and places them on the table. “i can also grab some tea or coffee if you need.” he wasn’t sure if these suggestions were helpful, but he didn’t think that it made sense for him to really actually try to do her job ( aka make the phone calls or whatnot … he was just a nobody after all ).
tara hated when things were out of her control. she had an assistant for the very reason to have a helping hand for her life so that way her days didn’t extend so late at night. a small part of her felt incredibly guilty for having jinhwan stay but she needed him. “i can’t help but worry. you’re young and it’s friday night. you should be out and having fun, not here with your boss.” she let out a long sigh, gazing down at the assortment of papers. “you’re right, let’s clean this up.” tara started to gather up the papers and paused at his suggestions. her past assistant never offered to get her anything without her asking. looking back at him, she smiled sweetly at his kindness. “are you hungry? if you are, i wouldn’t mind us sharing something. maybe pizza?” she chuckled softly. “i’m kind of a sucker for pineapple pizza.” tara placed some forms into a manila, waiting for his answer.

hearing that she enjoys her job made him quite happy. there were many people who seemed to settle for jobs where as she appeared to like hers. he slowly leaned in closer to her just to hear her better following suit without a thought. a warm genuine grin remained on his lips, he nods his head to acknowledge that he was listening. “really?’ that’s actually really cute.” he admits and begins to chuckle. “ah, so you’re miss maria the teacher. it makes sense since i feel like it suits you.” he doesn’t really admit to people that he has a kid. it normally pushes people away especially when he’s trying to get to know a woman. “can i get you another drink?” he wondered after since he was thinking about getting another for himself but only if she was sticking around. “if you want of course, i think you got here before i did.”
when he leaned in closer to add to their already closeness, maria’s face turned redder. she was acting as if she had never been this close to a man. “it’s the cutest. i wish i was that cute.” she giggled while pressing her fists against her cheeks. “you finally guessed right and thank you. i really love being a teacher.” being a teacher meant long hours and a lot of dedication, but it seemed that people had a general respect for them. however, being teacher was all that maria knew - never taking the time to truly have fun in life. “i would love another drink.” she smiled sweetly at him but then could feel her stomach grumble ever slightly. “and pizza. do you want to get pizza with me? i know a great twenty-four-seven place just near here.” she was just rambling but she really wants eat but get out of this cramped bar.

ariel can’t help but smile again at the other. his motives for being at the nursing home were so sweet and pure. she didn’t think she saw many people who were like that, if she were to be honest. “thank you,” she could only say again, unsure of what else to say really. “mmm, she actually really likes to talk. grandma might seem shy, but once you get her talking about her kids and grandkids, she’ll go on forever, right?” she squeezed her grandmother’s hands softly as the older woman chuckled, the first sign of glee that seemed to show on her face today. well, at least to someone other than ariel. “honestly, i think with anyone here, they are lonely and just want to have someone to talk to especially about things they like, you know?” maybe she was better with older people than she thought.
when she had thanked him, all hajoon could do was take a second to stare at her before smiling. “of course. i only want to help out as much as i can. i know it’s not easy being away from family.” he stated that with a sad smile on his face. just thinking about his family made his heart ache since it’s been so long since he’s seen them. “a talker huh? you could of fooled me.” he joked with a soft chuckle. hajoon wasn’t always a talkative person but he was happy to engage with others. sometimes he found himself feeling slightly guilty that he couldn’t do more. “is there anything else i could do to make your grandma feel a bit more at ease here? i really don’t mind.” of course, the fact the she was ariel’s grandmother was something that motivated his decision but he really wanted to help.
