This blog is dedicated to my love for Predator: Badlands.

My blog consists of little headcanons about Thia and Dek spun from the top of my head.

Badlands is my current hyperfixation, but I do love anything and everything about Xenomorphs, Yajuta, and Synths.

I'm just here to have fun and indulge in my current hyperfixation.

Nah. Dek is either killing EVERYTHING in that hellscape or punching his way out while Thia is trying to collect samples of every creature they come across.

Dek's eyes can glow in the dark.

Thia's synthetic eyes glow because she can enable night vision.

Bud's eyes glow because she is Kalisk, and they're known for being nocturnal.

You are a teeny, tiny human sworn to defend this Weyland-Yutani base out in the middle of bum fuck nowhere on a planet known for being unwelcoming... You step out into the night for a smoke, light your cigarette, and nearly drop it when three pairs of eyes stare at you unblinking from the darkness.

I've been playing Death Stranding 2 which has a Elle Fanning in it, and more importantly, Elle Fanning singing in the OST. So now I have it rattling in my brain that Thia Badlands can sing. No clue what to do with this knowledge. I just know that Dek is going to catch her singing as she works or to Bud. Songs convey emotion so she would be all about using it to understand. Dek is going to complain that it's just more noise that she makes, but still always pause what he is doing to listen each time the sweet flow of words spill from her lips.

Thia and Dek don't put collars on Bud because she is a proud creature deserving of respect. Instead, they give Bud her own little set of armor. Sure, she's a Kalisk pup and invincible, but Bud expressed a desire to look just like her daddy, and after a lot of begging, Dek simply sighed and crafted a set of armor similar to his, but small enough for Bud to fit in.

Bud was fitted, and she strutted around the ship looking pretty pleased with herself... And then she got bigger and bigger until she couldn't fit it anymore, but that was fine! Dek made a much bigger set and added extra spikes so that her enemies would impale themselves.

I'm a little scared that when Predator Badlands 2 is released, Thia will be permanently "killed" to give Dek even more of a drive to prove himself, or Dek will be super nerfed. Either one of these terrifies me so bad.

Thia is so uncanny that it makes me uncomfortable, but in a good way because she was clearly designed to look perfectly human, but that perfection makes her look scary.

Yes.

Dek and Thia have lost their fair share of human children. Neither of them is a stranger to death, but knowing that one of their own died during their very first hunt still shatters them. It is not uncommon, not in the life they lead, but that does nothing to dull the pain. All those years of feeding them, raising them, loving them, teaching them… only for it to slip through their fingers like sand in the wind.

Their firstborn child is the first, and will not be the last. As the years go on, they will lose many of their human babies. Human bodies lying broken under the massive weight of a Xenomorph Queen on a rampage, or human skulls made into the trophy of a badblood clan.

Their babies grow into hunters and die brutally. Such is the way.

Even with all their training, their human flesh is so thin and fragile.

They bleed so easily, and sometimes, there is nothing Thia can do to stem the flow because humans bleed out so slowly and yet, so very fast. Not even Dek, alpha that he is, could command death itself to give back his firstborn. A proud boy who grew into a proud man...and died.

Thia remembers her proud boy. Her first boy. She remembers them all.

Even when Dek grows too old to recall the face of their firstborn son, how he looked in life, and how he looked in death, Thia remembers. She remembers every small face, preserved in the logs of her memory bank, in every video she recorded, in every picture she took. Nothing is lost to her.

I finally replaced my old tv with a smart tv and wow...re-watching Predator Badlands on my new tv is quite the experience.
