These are old questions, but–Story Time, I guess?
This was maybe seven or so years ago? We’re gonna hit ten years soon, jeez. Anyways, it was a bit after I had finally earned my spot on La Squadra, I was still a rookie, but personally felt like I was The Shit. A month or so later, Ma started talking about this new guy who was a few years older than me and was real qualified for a spot on the team. Mentioned that Sorbet and Gelato were finishing up the work to be done to have him officially a part of us. She was SO damn excited about this guy, it honestly pissed me off.
Pissed me off a hundred times more when she introduced some punk lookin’ wall of a man and said it was the new assassin she was so hyped about.
This Risotto guy really rubbed me the wrong way. What talent did he have that made him so special?
Skip about half a year, and him and I get assigned our first mission together, per my mother’s excited request.
I still can’t stand the fuss over this guy, and I try to complete the mission by myself, despite the plan laid out for the two of us.
Long story short, I was caught in my haste and an interrogation started with a fire, a screwdriver and my neck. Risotto showed up right on time, and we finished the mission with only a handful more bodies counted than we planned.
I was just mad that I didn’t show him up AND he probably saved my life.
I ended up getting chewed out by the rest of the team, Risotto was praised, and I ended up with really only a bad burn wound on the side of my neck that obviously was gonna take a long time to heal.
After a couple of days, Sorbet got tired of my mopey behavior and told me to apologize to Risotto for the way I acted on the mission. It took me a while, but I finally did it. I told him how envious of him and his talent I was, too.
He was…surprisingly forgiving. He told me I didn’t need to worry and reassured me of my own talents and longstanding relationship with the gang from a young age.
He offered to help hone my skills if I helped him do the same. Y’know, promise to have each other’s backs since we were partners in crime, now. I agreed, and asked if we could start over.
And the rest is history! Kind of an embarrassing story, and I’ve got the scar to prove it, but after a long time, Risotto became probably one the people I trust the most in my life! Hope this wasn’t too boring to hear about…Jeez…
