Using social media in business is clever idea for promoting the products without spending money. The numbers of likes and followers nowadays is a key for success in business. In this essay we choose different businesses and we interviewed them about how the social media affect their businesses.
Norah Showaihi Fashion House is an online based business. It is an Emirati brand that provides its customers with luxury designs for different occasions and events. As an online business, this brand uses various social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and What’sApp. The owner of the business explained; “We chose to open a website instead of an actual store because it is less costly and it requires less work to set up. Also, most people are shopping online nowadays as it is easier and faster which will make us gain more customers than if we open a shop or a boutique.
We use facebook and twitter to interact with our fans and customer and other businesses too. Instagram is mostly used to display our designs and What’sApp for contacting our customers to take orders and answer any enquiries. All of that help us gain more customers as the number of followers increases on these media”.
Social media helped Norah Showaihi market their business by making it easier to spread the word about their brand. Once a customer likes what we offer they spread the world easily via twitter or instagram. Some people have never ordered from Norah Showaihi, yet they still spread the world about the brand when they see a design they like or they think someone else would like. This helped the business grow faster and gain a larger customer base than other media.
Social media is a clever way to market a business. It costs a fraction of what traditional media costs. It is processed faster which makes the results of advertising appear faster. For example, to promote a new collection that is designed by the brand. They simply book a photoshoot and a model, which happens online via email and facebook. When the photoshoot is done, they receive the pictures that were taken and then post them on facebook, twitter and instagram. Customers see the new pictures and mention them to their friend and then they contact us via What’sApp to make orders.
What is more social media is a worldwide media which makes their customer base multiply easily. Customers from all over the world can browse our profiles on any tool that are used by the brand. Therefore, the market segment of the brand is a huge segment because the number of people browsing the profile is a very large number.
Each social media used by the brand is a key element in marketing. As the designer explained earlier, Facebook is the main website of the brand, it is also used to interact with other businesses and customers. Twitter is used to in advertising and marketing new collections and designs and contact with customers as well. Instagram is mainly focused on Advertising and letting customers and followers know about every new step in the business. Finally, What’sApp is used to receive orders and answers any questions that customers may have. It is a great way to interact with customers directly which makes them feel special and taken care of. The success of the brand is measured by the number of Followers, Likers, and contacts on all of these tools. The higher the number, the larger their customer base is.
Ramani Café located in Kalba city. It is an Emirati brand that connects between the traditional and modern with unique style in offering the foods. They use several social media such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, What’s app to keep in touch with customers and to promote their product. The owner of the café mentioned that using these free social media for advertising is less costly from printing posters or post advertisement in newspaper, which helped him to save money to hire a driver to order the enquiries meals that the customers choose them online.
They use Twitter and Facebook to keep update with customers and other businesses about what’s going on daily. Pinterest mostly used for posting recipes of their meals and for teaching the followers easy way to decorate the food at home as a café. Instagram for displaying the daily meals and repost picture of customers opinion which helped them promote their product. When people and we are posting about our café in these social media, it helps us to gain more follower and customers.
Social media helped Ramani café to advertise and promote their café easily between the people. When customers tag or mentioned our account via Twitter or Instagram it give other people a chance to view our account and admire what we are offering which helped to increased the number of followers and customers. Even if there are some people didn’t visit our café yet but they write a comment that they wish one day to come to Kalba just to visit it.
Using a social media is a smart idea and easy for marketing the product even if you are at home and in your bed. There is no limit for posting or using these media, when you post and interact more you gain more people for example when you keep your café update of what’s going on daily it help the people to interact with you daily but if you post once a week the people will be bored to even follow you.
By using social media, people from around the world can follow and interact with you but if you are not using them, only the people in your area can know about it which will not help you to be success and known as if you are using social media. However, there are many businesses nowadays are in home and they are more success and gain money than the businesses in shops and this credited is due for social media which opens for them free place between all the world while siting at home.
To sum up, the success of the business is the number of customers and followers in various social media. The key to promote and marketing your business is to be interacting and updating well with the followers.
