the truth is I am too much of a horndog to be a nun
I’m full of hot takes today so fine here’s another:
Christians, stop adopting labels. If you struggle with anything LGBT don’t identify yourself as such. I still struggle with attraction to women as a married woman. I don’t label myself a non-practicing bi Christian. You should never give yourself the label of your sin. We don’t call ourselves lying, thieving, lustful, angry, drunk Christians. It’s not safe to wear sin as a label.
our label as christians is Christ. That’s all. We are to put to death our old selves, not wear it as a badge.
"Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst."
(General you) - If you are not a sinner, you have no need of Christ. If you cannot admit you are a sinner, even to yourself, then you cannot humble yourself to accept God's grace.
God came for the liars, the cheats, the tax collectors, and every single gay person in the history of the world, and nowhere on God's green Earth will you find that Mercy cares if a person calls themselves queer, because mercy is not for people who are clean and free of any pesky worldly issue. It's for us mucky creatures in the bogs.
You may misunderstand me. I am a sinner. I’m a horrid sinner. But I’m also a new creation. The old me is passing away, the new me is putting on the grace and mercy of Christ. Why would I identify myself with the sin I’m killing daily? To say I am an angry Christian makes no sense as I struggle with my anger nearly daily. Why would I call myself that? I’m just a sinner saved by Christ. I’m just a Christian, a new creature.
my flesh, my sin, should not ever define me as a person. Jesus calls us to go and sin no more. I can’t in good conscience label myself the sin I’m trying to do no more. Mercy and grace saves us where we are but doesn’t leave us where we are.
I opened with a quote from Paul. Who was most certainly accepting of the grace of Christ when he wrote that he was the foremost of sinners.
Find me something that becomes easier to handle when you cannot name it, when you cannot describe it, when the language by which one knows it is removed.
I don’t think we shouldn’t name our sins. But is it really wise to adopt the names of them? Again, I mention myself in this case. Bisexual Christian. Yet I see bisexuality as a sin, as it is against what God originally intended for mankind. Therefore I would not label myself as a bisexual Christian. I’m simple a Christian who struggles with sexual sin. In this case homosexuality.
this is simply how I choose to view things. I believe labels do more harm than good. However I don’t condemn any of my brothers and sisters who do use them. I’m simply stating that it seems unwise to label ourselves as the world tends to.
Priests every June:
I’m not American.
I identify as someone who struggles to live in this country.
Sometimes you just gotta think about women for a long minute and then wonder why exactly WE all got to be a piece of heaven on earth and are all supposed to love the other ones like COME ON absoluteLY UNFAIR
yo as an queer-ish catholic who stopped using the words because it made my stomach sick i appreciate the work you're doing on this blog

As a queer Catholic, I’m used to being painfully stabbed in the chest by fellow Christians.
That’s why this Pride Month, I’m partnering with the Sacred Heart of Jesus
hey! Coming from a semi-Christian lgbt person who used to be side b: it’s my understanding that side b is when you remain celibate/do not seek out same sex relationships but reconcile being both lgbt and Christian. is there now a different definition that’s being used? What do you consider to be side b? I’m just asking out of curiosity since it’s been around half a decade since I’ve been in the community
Hello and welcome!!
Side B is---first and foremost I'd say---a theological position, largely born as an extension of Natural Theology, ie understanding the Divine through Nature. The essential premise is that God designed sex and marriage to occur exclusively between 2 persons who are normally capable of having procreative sex together. (obviously post-menopause / infertile couples are not disqualified, but that's for another topic...)
That doesn't necessitate celibacy upon Side B folks (hello bi and trans and gd and aro folks!) though you're right its often practiced in that way.
More practically as you pointed out, the Side B Community / "Side B'ers" refers to queer Christians with this theological position, with the understanding that queer identities, labels, orientations etc are valuable as descriptors of the human experience.
But I think we do disservice by flattening Side B into just "celibacy," or even a refrainment from any and all SS relationships. I actually know a lesbian couple, one of whom converted to Catholicism later in life. She asked her wife to abstain from sex, to which her wife responded, "I choose you." They still live together, still share a bed, still hold the US marital license. Are they Side B, even though the wife isn't actually Christian? I'd honestly say, yes, in the practical sense.
I don't think the Side B definiton has really changed since the term appeared, but it's possible there's been a game of telephone as the community grows.
Anyways, would love to hear more from you anon!
write the smuttiest ship fic you can possibly think of. just absolutely unhinged horniness.
in compliance with the Christian Hayes Code, write a 1 sentence A/N on how the characters converted to Christianity afterwards.
