Having secured the other’s word to check out the hole in his barricade later, Zitao flopped back into place on the couch. He takes a moment to snuggle back into the cushions until he’s satisfied he’s found the comfiest position. At Baekhyun’s explanation, he raises an eyebrow.

A looter. Baekhyun wouldn’t be the first two have attempted to scavenge from the mall. In fact, the building was mostly bare of anything of value thanks to scavengers from decades ago, who had cleaned out the stores before the building had become overrun with infected. Of course, the infected must have taken over the mall shortly after the virus began to spread, because many of the stock rooms had been left untouched. The previous looters had only taken goods that were the most easily accessible. At the time, their needs hadn’t been quite so desperate.

"There’s still things to be found out there," Zitao admits with a shrug. "I’m not a dragon, I don’t have any need to sit on a pile of goods just to keep others from them." He grinned at his own joke, though he had his doubts whether the other would even understand it. The bookstore was one of the shops that had been more or less overlooked by past scavengers, and so Zitao had accrued a small collection of books to keep him occupied. "Were you looking for anything specific?"

It was awkward, for Baekhyun anyways. He isn’t used to having company, and he certainly isn’t used to being someone else’s company. And so, he remains in his little corner, seemingly silent as he thinks over the events of the day, and what he probably should have done differently to save him the trouble of riling up a bunch of infected.

However, his train of though is broken by the sound of the other man’s voice, and he turns his head to look at him. “Are there really?” He sounds a little more hopeful than he had originally intended for, and it causes a slight blush to creep its way onto his cheeks. “I mean--” He looks thoughtful for a moment as he tries to think of anything in specific that he needs, because he hadn’t come here with anything of importance in mind. “Anything that’ll get me by, I suppose.” He says finally, though he still isn’t too sure what it is he’s been looking for this entire time. “Maybe some clothing? And some food would be great too, but that’s doubtful.”

He remains silent after that, shifting slightly in his little corner, awkward. He wasn’t one to get close to someone so quickly, but there was something about Zitao that had him pushing that part of himself away, and in doing so, it made him question himself, rather than question the motives of the other man. Perhaps not everyone was as bad as he had grown to think.

Zitao’s eyes widen at the mention of an opening in his barricade. He lifts his head to stare at Baekhyun in horror. “Can you show me the opening? Later, I mean. We can wait for those guys to settle down. And I’ll handle that Clicker, don’t worry. I just didn’t expect to run into trouble when I went out there.”

That statement alone spoke to just how comfortable Zitao was within the shopping center’s walls— or to his stupidity. Perhaps both. In retrospect, Zitao realized he should have grabbed some sort of weapon when he heard the infected getting rowdy, but it honestly hadn’t occurred to him. He had his switchblade in his boot, sure, but that wouldn’t have been any help against that Clicker outside.

He was torn from his musings when Baekhyun continued to speak.

"Nice to meet you too," Zitao grinned, obediently moving his feet out of the way so the other boy had a place to sit. "So what brings you to my food court, Baekhyun?" He quirked an eyebrow playfully. "Other than getting my tenants all riled up."

Baekhyun nods, his expression never changing. “Yeah, I can definitely show you it later.” He’s thankful that Zitao offered for him to show him where it is after the infected calmed down. But then again, if Baekhyun didn’t want to deal with the infected right now, he’s certain that Zitao doesn’t want to either. And besides, from the looks of it, they were safe in here, and he was going to be spending quite some time with this man.

It baffles him that Zitao didn’t have an actual weapon on him, but perhaps that was because Zitao was accustomed to these walls, and knew where the danger was and wasn’t. And maybe, just maybe, Zitao wasn’t expecting there to be a hole in one of the walls where Baekhyun had let himself in, disturbing a bunch of infected at the same time.

“Well…” He starts, and he glances over at him, to finally get a better look of what the other man looks like. Baekhyun’s already gathered that he’s bigger than him—it wasn’t difficult to do either, almost everyone that he’s met has been bigger than he is, so he’s come to accept it, really. “I was hoping to find something of value.” He tells him. “Though, from the looks it, you’ve already taken care of whatever’s in here.” And he laughs, because he must have been stupid to think that he was the first person to get the bright idea of ransacking a mall.

"Well, Baekhyun, Looting isn’t a very nice thing to do, now is it?" Namjoo looked at him with her eyebrows raised. "It would be much easier to ask people for things or to trade. If you try to loot me again I will shoot you, do you understand? If you want something you come to me and ask nicely." Namjoo sighed as her usual smile returned to her face. "Now what can I get for you?"

Namjoo began to hum as she put some bread in Baekhyun bag. “Its not fresh, but its still food. Now here,” she said holding up some vegetables “are cucumbers and tomatoes grown from my own garden, they’re extremely tasty, if I do say so myself.”

Baekhyun’s expression sinks the moment she starts to scold him and he’s trying to hold back the cockiest of laughs he’s ever had. “I know that looting isn’t right.” He tells her, shaking his head. “But it’s what I’ve been taught to do. It’s really all that I know.” He shrugs his shoulders, a heavy sigh leaving him. “I-I’ll keep that in mind for next time though. I really don’t want to be shot…” He’s lucky enough as it is that she didn’t shoot him the first time, and all that he’s gotten was a mere warning.

He’s still only a little confused as to why she’s giving him some of her supplies without a second thought, and now he’s feeling kind of guilty. He’s never felt guilty about looting from someone before, but perhaps that’s because he had never gotten caught by the person. “I—thank you.” He says, a sheepish smile on his face. He isn’t too sure how he’s supposed to act now, or what he’s supposed to do.

"Did you just laugh at me?"

Baekhyun's never been good with holding his tongue, and unfortunately for him, this wasn't exactly the best of times to be letting himself mock another person. He's never seen this person before, and though there's a seemingly well aura around him, he can't be too certain whether or not he's just made the biggest mistake of his life.

"I--" He stops, shaking his head. He then takes a moment to further compose himself, breathing in a long, deep breath. "No, no I wasn't." He tells him, though it's hard to say who exactly-- or what he was laughing at, because he's terrible with coming up with excuses for things. "I wasn't laughing at you, I was--" He cuts himself off before he can finish it though, because he knows no matter what he says, he's pushing himself further into the hole he's dug for himself.

"I didn’t steal it. I borrowed it. Possibly for a long time."

Baekhyun's frown deepens at the other's words, his eyes narrowed. Karma was a bitch, he thinks, but that didn't mean he wasn't any less bothered by the fact that someone had actually stolen from him. He's thought long and hard on whether or not he should change the way he lives his life,but he doesn't know anything else, so he sticks to doing what he does best, and unfortunately for him, it's always landed him in the stickiest of situations.

"Okay, so...." He pauses, weighing out his options. The man in front of him is bigger than he is, and though he can hold his own against an opponent, he doesn't want to try his luck, because everyone is different. For all he knows, this guy could be skilled in combat, whereas he is not. "If you had only borrowed it, wouldn't it be great if you gave it back to its rightful owner now?" He questions, raising an eyebrow.

If someone had taken food, there was no way he was going to get it back, but a weapon-- that was something he needed. It was a knife, and though he had his own already, the one that he had found had a sharper blade than the one in his holster, and he was saving the new one for a time when the old one finally broke. "You can have anything else you'd like, but please-- give back the knife."

"And if I say yes?"

A wicked smile quickly finds its way across Baekhyun's features, a lively twinkle in his eyes. He's always had a knack for getting himself into some kind of trouble, and it just so happens he loves having the company when he does so. He'd never admit to that however, but there comes a time when a man needs to swallow his pride and allow for others to get in. Now, that didn't by any meane he was going to open up to the other man-- no, such things were reserved for people he actually trusted.

"Alright well, come with me." He says simply, reaching to take the man's hand in his as he guides him into the building. Normally though, when he was looting, he'd much prefer to do it by himself, but he supposes sharing his findings here wasn't the end of the world. There were still plenty of unexplored areas in which he'd find his goods, so splitting on one place wasn't going to kill him.

He doesn't say much after that, simply because they had come to a simple agreement of sorts. Both had arrived at the very same destination, and though Baekhyun hadn't a clue what the other man was up to, he wasn't in the mood to fight for what he was possibly his, and so he offered that perhaps they'd just share whatever was within those walls, and to his surprise, the other had agreed. Perhaps the world wasn't filled with as many monsters as he's come to believe.

Zitao moves deeper into the room to flop carelessly on a couch pushed against the far wall, throwing an arm over his eyes. He shifts his arm a moment later so he can lift his head to look at the other man. “How did you get inside?” he asks, tilting his head curiously. “I sealed off the passages to the back halls ages ago.”

The sound of thunder cracking above them has Zitao’s attention lifting to the skylight above them. Rain begins to tap against the filthy window, slowly at first and then picking up speed as the downpour finally breaks free. The teen’s lips thin as another crack of thunder sounds. He does his best to keep his reaction to the storm hidden, doesn’t want this stranger to see how quickly the sound of thunder can send Zitao hiding beneath the nearest blanket.

He forces his attention back to Baekhyun, needing the distraction the man currently presents. For now, it works. “You can sit,” he blinks, taking notice of how the other man looks dead on his feet. Zitao dutifully shifts his feet off of the couch. “Sorry. I’m not really used to having company.”

"I’m Zitao, by the way," he adds.

Baekhyun’s eyes wander around the new room in awe, because this is probably the closest thing that’s come to home since his little misadventure today. His train of thought is broken when he hears the other’s voice, and he glances over at where he has himself sprawled out across the couch. He fights back a small laugh, because for someone who had looked so kickass only moments ago, couldn’t have looked more harmless than he did now.

“Oh, that.” He nods, a mischievous smile crossing his face. “Well you see… there was a small opening—big enough that I was able to crawl through.” Baekhyun isn’t a big person to begin with, and he’s grown accustomed to fitting himself into small spaces that getting inside was a piece of cake.

His attention’s lost when he hears the sound of thunder, his heart skipping a beat. Baekhyun hated rain, though he hated thunder storms even more. In fact, he’d take a little downpour over a stupid thunder storm any day.

However, his attention is soon brought back to the other in front of him when he speaks again. Ah, there it is. A name. He thinks to himself before peeling himself away from the wall to wander on over to the couch. “It’s nice to meet you, Zitao.” He says, plopping himself down next to him on the couch, settling himself in a corner awkwardly.

"I’m Namjoo by the way." She smiled at him while grabbing a glass of water for herself. "So what were you trying to find? I don’t really have that much quite honestly, but if you’re in desperate need for something i could get it for you." Namjoo looked at Baekhyun and saw his face was in shock.

"Is something wrong? Did I offend you?" she asked in a panicked tone. "I’m sorry if I did. I tend to be kind of blunt sometimes…" Namjoo rubbed the back of her neck.

"So uhm yeah.. Why are you here?"

Baekhyun shaks his head at her question, because she's done anything but offend him. No, he's just confused. Confused that someone isn't trying to push him away, an is actually offering their goods to him, rather than trying to protect them. She certainly wasn't like all of the others he's encountered in the past.

"Namjoo..." He repeats, nodding slowly. "No, you haven't offended me." He tells her, a small smile gracing his features. "I'm just confused is all." And he sighs, shaking his head. Perhaps he should change his job description from looter to loser.

"Why am I here?" He raises an eyebrow, watching her. "I was here to loot from you. However, it's no longer stealing now that it's been offered so-- I'm not really sure what it is I'm doing here anymore."

Namjoo was in the hallway of the building when she heard someone come through the window. she sighed and out the down the blanket she was trying, actually failing miserably, to weave and walking into the next room.

"See something you like?" Namjoo asked casually walking into the room. "I’m not going to hurt you so don’t pull your weapon out, otherwise its just going to be bad for you." She looked at the boy, surveying him from head to toe. "You look like hell. Do you want some water?" Without letting him answer the question Namjoo walked over to the jug of freshly distilled water and scooped out a small cup. She handed it to him and sat down in front of him. "Whats your name?"

Baekhyun froze in his tracks upon hearing the voice of a girl, his heart sinking into his stomach. He knows that he’s been told to kill whomever gets in his way, but morally, he can’t bring himself to harm a girl. He was a terrible son, only now deciding to defy the wishes of his dead parents. Perhaps that was for the better though, it was slowly turning him into a better person.

“I--” He isn’t too sure how to answer her, because yes, he does see some incredible things, things that would go great with the traders. However, she looked harmless enough, which was possibly the only reason why he hadn’t bothered with drawing his weapons on her. “Thank you.” He manages out finally, eyes fixed on the girl in front of him. He’s still in shock—shocked that rather than trying to fight him off of her goods, she seems to be offering them to him. “Baekhyun. My name is Baekhyun.”

Zitao didn’t immediately answer. His attention was focused on tracking the sound of the Clicker’s movements on the other side of the door. The crunch of gravel beneath its feet revealed the beast to be pacing nearby. Though the door behind Zitao’s back had a working lock, he didn’t dare engage it for fear of drawing the Clicker’s attention. He wasn’t keen on testing the door’s strength against an aggravated infected.

When the sound of clumsy footsteps grew more distant, he breathed a sigh of relief. “Watch your feet,” he instructed, reaching out blindly for his companion’s wrist and tugging. Instead of the small room that they had seemed to be hiding in, it was actually a narrow hallway. Luckily, Zitao could navigate this mall in his sleep, and so the darkness was of little consequence to him.

He led the other man down the hallway and through another door. Zitao flinched against the new room’s lighting, however dim it may have been. The old store was lit by patches of moonlight peeking through holes in its roof, but it was more than enough to illuminate their surroundings.

"Are you hurt?" Zitao asked, turning to Baekhyun once he had shut the fire door behind them.

Baekhyun’s eyes don’t adjust to the lack there of light around them as they wander through what seems like an endless hallway. He isn’t too sure where they’re going at this point, but anywhere was better than back there where the clicker was. Sometimes Baekhyun wishes that people had night vision like most animals did, because then getting around at night would be far easier than it was now, and would definitely make his job as a looter a hundred times more productive than it was now.

“Alright.” He nods, allowing the other man to lead him down the path, because this guy sure did seem to know his way around this place, despite how they had no light to guide them. He quickly comes to the conclusion that this guy more or less lives in this mall, and has probably had a lot of time to experience it firsthand. A lot of time that Baekhyun didn’t have, which was why the bandit had no idea what he was doing when he stumbled into the mess of infected back there. Sometimes being curious was deadly, but curiosity killed the cat—and cats had nine lives, so Baekhyun’s pretty sure he’ll be fine for a couple of more years.

His eyes burn when they’re met with the dim lighting of the other room, and they take a short moment to better adjust to the newly found light. It was strange, watching how the glow from the moonlight managed to glorify even the most rundown of buildings.

“No, I’m alright.” He shakes his head, giving the man a small smile. “Thank you, for everything.” He lets out a small sigh, resting his weight against the wall, his chest heavy. Now that the chase was over, he was slowly coming down from the adrenaline high, exhaustion taking over.

Mischief || Baekhyun & Jongin

Even though Jongin had been angry and mad with the other because of the monster-thingy he was finding that slowly Baekhyun was opening up to him. At least he wasn’t staring at Jongin like that anymore which was already a huge plus for him. So were everyone just looking at him like that because they weren’t knowing him? They were looking at his white hair and sometimes they were seeing him with his hands covered in blood and then they were judging. But nobody was taking the time to talk to him just like Baekhyun was doing it now.

Maybe Jongin wasn’t that different from the other man because now he had caught Jongin’s attention completely. Baekhyun would disappear after this talk, after this day, just like everyone else around Jongin but for now he was able to deal with it. Probably it was because Jongin wasn’t knowing the other man good enough yet.

A low chuckle was coming from Jongin after he was hearing the other man’s words. Strange, he had been thinking exactly this a few minutes ago. Were his thoughts this visible on his face. Jongin wouldn’t mind if this was the case but he was finding it more than just amusing if he was honest. “Let’s say I’m a bit confused about it, yes.” Was the prompt answer of the young man with the white hair followed by another silent laughter. A bit Jongin was looking over his shoulder in order to have a better look at the other man while he was talking about his curiosity. So he was really just curious, nothing bad at least not for Jongin. Curious just meant that you were open to new things. “I like curious people who don’t judge too quickly so i’d love to talk with you.”

The grin was disappearing from Jongin’s lips just to be replaced by a small and gentle smile. No, he had no intention in killing Baekhyun, from the beginning – which really was unlikely for a human hunter. “I just didn’t want to kill you. I know most of the human hunters are just…like that – I mean…killing without mercy and no matter who. They are eating their preys even alive.” Jongin made a face in disgust and shook his head quickly. “I’m not like that. I don’t even like killing, mostly I get my food from my working place – the crematorium – you know what I mean? But it’s not like I can eat every corpse —- just the ones without wounds and those who aren’t dead very long. So…since you are not dead you are safe. I prefer people to stay by my side because they want to. Not because I force them or even kill them. Oh and it’s not like I just eat humans I also eat normal stuff. Someone told me I eat those humans because of loneliness. I don’t know if this is true or not….”
