i really enjoy things related to the sea, you know? i love the sea breeze and the sound of the waves. and the smell of mint tea... for texture, i'd say soft cashmere. maybe it’s an unusual answer, but it feels warm and inviting to me, comfortable."

i'd say i'm pretty much an introvert.

What is it like where you live? How does it compare to where you grew up if it differs?

lifestyle-wise, it is quite different. paris has this bustling urban atmosphere wrapped in a historical and classical setting. it always felt a little too rushed, you know what I mean? as if everything were very immediate. here, i have a continuous feeling of calm and tranquility that I hold very close to my heart, thanks to the landscape, the beautiful views around the city, and the weather... It’s all so different, but equally charming to me.

Do you have any crushes at the moment? If so, do you think you will ever tell them? Has anyone ever had a crush on you?

oh… not that i'm aware of yet…? but if i eventually find myself having a crush on someone, i'll just tell them if i have room for that, if there's even a little hope that it might be reciprocated. otherwise, i'm not the type to say this kind of thing just to get it off my chest. i would hate to put any kind of pressure on someone i like.

about people having a crush on me… i don't know, i guess…? i got a drunk confession once, but i never knew if it was true or not.

self-reflection is always a little daunting, don't you think? however, i would describe myself as sensitive, introspective, and profoundly emotional.

lucian did not consider himself an easy prey in that type of situation, mostly because he was usually really good at keeping his emotions under control. however, he was still just human and didn’t feel he could win over the confidence of that beautiful smile of hers. so, he busied himself with another sip of his drink after accepting her response with a little nose scrunch. “ i thought it would be good for me to just be alone, but your idea is definitely better. i appreciate you being here now, ” he said, offering a sincere but small smile. “ how are you, lana? how’s your day? how have you been? ” there was a soft pause between each question, his voice just loud enough to be heard over the surrounding noise.

lucia may have been clocked in for her shift, but she certainly wasn't paying the patrons any attention. mousy optics glued to the glowing device in her hands, scrolling through her ex's instagram feed. a bitter laugh erupting from her throat at the latest update on his life that she hadn't even noticed the person who had been attempting to command her attention for the last several minutes. "huh?" head snapped up from her phone as if she'd been rudely interrupted. just like that she had been sucked back into reality, but that wouldn't stop her from carrying on with her antics. "this is totally a subliminal, right?" lucia practically dangles her phone screen right in front of their face. on display, a picture of her ex-boyfriend on a beach on the west coast. "we literally used to go to that beach all the time! he so wants me." a dramatic pause, before she shrinks her phone back to her chest. "you didn't, like, want something, did you?"

human behavior was definitely interesting to observe. lucian actually took good fun out of it whenever something caught his attention just like that view in front of his eyes did. that's why he ended up giving up on trying to get the woman's attention and just stood there watching her in return, waiting for her to notice his presence, more or less. it would be pitiful to interrupt whatever it was that took that kind of laugh out of her, right? yes, but he actually didn't have that much free time, so he tried to get her attention one more time.

he was not expecting to be put to evaluate the situation, but his eyes went to the screen, seeing that rather normal picture of a man on the beach. her next words gave him the needed clarity on the situation, and a soft oh left his lips. " or maybe he just likes the spot," he said, shrugging. it was the way the corner of his lips lifted a little that was giving away he was just trying to mess with her. " you're giving him the attention he wanted, you know that, right? " he added on a slightly more serious note now. " and i would like just a ranch water, please. "

living by himself for so long, lucian had to learn the hard way how important it is to have a balanced diet. for a long time, he would be fine with whatever was easy to make, but something seemed to change in him since his last birthday. turning 30 really was a turning point for him, health-wise. of course, not all bad habits are gone, but a few good ones were in the making, and he's really proud of himself for that.

so, that is the reason why he enjoys taking a trip down to the farmers market on saturdays and going back home filled with fresh produce for the week. right before meeting muse by chance while picking apples, he bought a very delicious strawberry jelly that the kind seller gave him a rather generous sample of. he only noticed, embarrassingly late, that the corner of his mouth had some of it. " oh god. i've been talking to you all this time with jelly on my mouth? " he asked between a muffled laugh, after cleaning it with his fingers.

camden doesn’t get out much. for a thirty year old, his social life is far from booming. though it’s not something he entirely minds. it isn’t like he ever really had one in the first place, and truthfully he would much rather be spending time with his son that at a party. but it’s one of his oldest friends birthday celebrations, so here he is anyway, slightly tipsy and with his mind elsewhere.

he’s wandered outside for some air, leaning against the metal railing with a cigarette between his lips. it’s a bad habit and he knows it — that’s why he’s quit at least six or seven times. but sometimes he simply needs one, and the rare flush of alcohol in his system isn’t helping. turns his head when he hears someone approach, half-smile capturing his lips as he exhaled a puff of smoke. “ i’m not supposed to be smoking, ” he states, slight chuckles as he brings his finger to his lips as if to ask them to keep it a secret. “ you having a good night ? ”

not being the most social being among all creatures, lucian would rather stay at home than go out at any given chance. it usually had something to do with work, always having something to read or to prepare for the week. but sometimes he remembered his age and started to get a little worried. the feeling of wasting his youth—while still having it—hit hard. a funny feeling, actually, since he’s not the one to be too worried about getting old. that’s why he ended up accepting the invitation to go out with some friends.

so there he was, a few drinks later, needing to step outside the bar to catch a little fresh air, hoping it would make that tipsy feeling settle down. noticing he was not alone there, lucian returned that half-smile, slightly shy. but that gesture grew into a chuckle upon his words. “ oh, i’m not the one to judge you, ” he said, because he was also a smoker. not a heavy smoker, but sometimes he just needed a cigarette. “ your secret is safe with me. ” he added, nodding once. that question took one or two seconds to get an answer: “ i am, actually. slightly different from my usual plans for a friday night, but i’m having fun. ” the feeling of satisfaction that took over after realizing it was very good, too. “ what about you? having fun? ”

lately  emma  finds  herself  going  to  the  beach  more  often,  although  given  how  much  time  she  spends  there,  it  shouldn't  be  a  surprise  that's  where  she  ends  up  at  some  point  of  her  day.  the  beach  isn't  as  crowded  now  that  fall  is  coming,  but  it  never  bothered  emma  anyway.  she's  lying  down  on  the  sand,  eyes  closed  as  she  listens  to  the  sound  of  waves  crashing.  eventually  somebody  is  looming  over  her;  emma  could  tell  even  with  her  eyes  closed,  so  she  says,  “  you're  blocking  my  sun.  move.  ”

one of the reasons lucian has not once regretted his decision to move countries again was the beach. even though he lived not so far from one during his years in england, the weather always made the experience not as pleasurable as it was in palmview. and he loved the sea, adored that soothing feeling it always brought to his heart. so, every chance he gets, he goes for a walk on the beach. barefoot, sinking his feet into the sand, enjoying the sensation.

his thoughts were a little far away, but everything slipped away when he spotted emma. “ a hello would be a much more appropriate way to start a conversation, ” he stated with a slightly teasing tone. “ but i’ll take a please to begin with. ”

the cocktail bar is exactly her scene , with her honey-blonde waves & open-back body-con dress , lana glides through the crowd with a fruity cocktail between her manicured fingers . despite the september breeze in the air , she doesn't feel cold or lacking energy as she sits down beside someone sitting alone , her grin almost bright enough to put the moon to shame . “ hi , ” pearly whites dig into her plump bottom , fixing the spaghetti strap on her shoulder as she looks with interest . “ so , what will it take to make you smile tonight ? “

after a long and particularly stressful day at work, he felt in his bones that he needed a drink before heading back home—reason why he was alone there. as much as he was okay with his own company, there were a few places he liked to spare himself from attending alone, and bars were on the list.

spacing out a little after a short sip of his drink, lucian was brought back to earth by the female figure sitting beside him, eyebrows raising in clear surprise caused by that approach. but the question following that gesture made him look away, biting his lip to avoid smiling so easily. unfortunately, the pale skin gave him away when his cheeks flushed. “ do i look this bad? ” he asked in a light tone, with a chuckle. “ that you had to come all the way here trying to make me smile? ”
