Maybe it’s been pointed out already, but a detail in the Witch Hat Atelier into that I’ve noticed really makes me happy.

What I notice about this is that the Pointed Caps and the Brimmedhats are “equal” or “balanced”. Which goes along with the portrayal of them both being corrupted in different ways.
The Pointed Caps believe in protecting the people of the world with magic, and aiding them in their daily lives. But, they have deep rooted issues with potential magic misuse that makes them fear anything that could potentially go back to the times before the ban on certain magics. So they want to aid the world, but with heavy regulation and restriction for “protection”.
The Brimmedhats also believe in “aiding” the people of the world with magic, but more so in giving them freedom from the restrictions the Pointed Caps created. But, they have a bad way of going about it, which is closer to throwing non-witches into the deep end of their world rather than helping them learn.
The two of them are the same in the way they go about their goals, in the sense that they’re the extreme of both directions.
In short, the Pointed Caps believe:
Protection/Freedom = Living in ignorance or in adherence to specific rules
While the Brimmedhats believe:
Protection/Freedom = Living as you please and doing what you desire
Not to mention the Brimmedhat is higher than the Pointed Cap which insinuates it would be the “lighter” or more easy to do, while the Pointed Cap is lower or “heavier” which means it’s harder to live by in a way.
WHICH TO FURTHER POINT OUT, COCO IS IN THE MIDDLE WHICH MEANS SHES A MIX OF BOTH IDEALS!!! WHICH I DO BELIEVE IS IGUIN’S WHOLE FREAKING SCHEME!!!
Anyway, I just love how beautiful the anime is and how detailed it is in adherence with the beautiful manga.
