the second au of the mer/siren au’s I thought of too late to post in mermay!
this one is a reverse, rubilax is human, while eva and dally are both mer/sirens. if I wrote it as a fic, I’d probably make it like. first person too, since I want it to be rubi focused? (like some sort of diary he’s keeping). anyways so the lore.
rubilax is a siren hunter. has been working for rushu for many years already, never had a family outside of this group of siren hunters. one day, he sets to sea to hunt once more, but due to some trouble with his ship, or a storm, he winds up in the water, and that’s when he meets them. eva and dally. two imposing sirens, that have been hunting him down ever since they heard the news of a siren-hunting human. rubilax is in awe of them, even if he’s a siren hunter, he’s never really seen one up close in their natural habitat, less two, and two hunters (they’ve got their weapons and shi). he hit his head on the way down, so he starts falling unconscious. and eva and dally just. confused, and a little shocked at how defenseless this “siren hunter” really was, decide to save him. mostly dally’s idea, since he’s a little naive, eva gets mad at first but then decides it’s for the best. they bring him to a beach, and together, they place a curse on the human. so that he may never raise a weapon against merkind.
obviously, with that kind of curse, rushu kicks him out. so out of a job, and out of the only “family” he’s ever known, he becomes obsessed with finding these sirens again. jumping from crew to crew, from ship to ship, just to find them again. meanwhile, dally and eva become curious. start watching this human. and then one day, while rubilax is sitting in the harbour, just about to give up, they appear. and so, their hesitant friendship begins (which will eventually lead them to fall in love ofc)
heh yeah, I also have drawings for this au, but again, don’t really love them that much lol. obviously both these au’s have transmasc rubilax, duh, that’s just him for me lmao. and like. idk, a lot of cute moments. I really love these three, I’ve been thinking a lot abt wakfu, and them especially >-<. so I might just write smth eventually. I mean, the fic that sorta came over me when I designed human rubilax is like. pretty much a thing in my head. the problem is it’s long, and yall already know how terrible i am with writing long fics lmao.
