While poised with his usual polite benevolence, there are the hints of a smile at the corner of his mouth, a marked relic that there is true pleasure in greeting this visitor to the Cloud Recesses beyond that of etiquette and politeness. Lan Xichen awaits as his sworn brother adjusts, holding calm vigil before he raises a hand and gestures back towards his home with open arms.

"Perhaps some tea and you can tell me of your clan and the adventures you have had since we last spoke..." As the other comes to join him, he lets dark eyes traverse his form, for signs of agitated spirit - as lingers in the history of the Nie clan - before turning naturally to guide the way through the tranquility of the Cloud Recesses, his thoughts his own in their wanderings.

No matter how arduous and long the journey to Gusu may be, never once has the sight of Lan Xichen failed to make up for it. It's like stepping into a warm bath or a well-tempered home and being greeted with sweet tea and true peace. There are not many men in this world Nie Mingjue considers to be trustworthy beyond doubt, but Lan Xichen holds his unshaken trust and genuine friendship. Of his honesty and honor Mingjue is as certain as he is of the rising sun in the east. Zewu-jun's smile is mirrored, Mingjue's honest joy over their reunion carved into his face as he steps closer and raises his hands before his chest to greet him.

"The time it took, Xichen," he responds, shaking off the concerns that kept him busy on his trip - at least for the moment. "But it is always worth to see you." His men stay behind as they move deeper into the Cloud Recesses and Nie Mingjue breathes in deeply for the first time in a while, the tension in his shoulders easing. Lan Xichen's look does not go unnoticed and Mingjue feels a wave of affection in the face of his sworn brother's concern. With some pride on his features he turns to him. "There's no reason to worry, Xichen. My qi has been calm these days, mostly - in and outside of battle. Jin Guangyao," Mingjue's eyes darken briefly at the thought of their third brother, "has been playing for me to soothe my spirit. You taught him well."
