“I really don’t think there is an age where you need to be married or have kids, or even that it needs to happen. Everyone lives their lives differently, and for some it happens soon and for others it never does. A lot of my friends back in my hometown are married with kids so I get it, they ask me the same questions when I go home and I just laugh it off. There’s more to life than marriage and kids, even if I do want both someday.”

“A brownie here, I cupcake there… You keep slowly pushing sweets at me and I’m gonna need another fitting for my costume,” he laughed, breaking a small piece off the brownie off the end and sticking it in his mouth. Talking of their kiss her words didn’t come as a surprise to him. He sensed that about her right away. After all isn’t that where part of his interest in pursuing her had started? She had that sweet innocent air about her that spoke to the fact that she just wouldn’t jump into bed with him after a date or two. The same kind of girls had grown boring to him and Bailee was a challenge that drew interest. Along the way it had begin to change for him, though he ignored that fact and the slight twinge of guilt. “What about guys that you go out on dates with? Are you okay with kissing them?”

“If I am going on dates with them then it means I really like them so yes, I am okay kissing them,” Bailee said with a scrunch of her nose. She was never good at this, the part when it came to talking about feelings or admitting they existed. In truth, Bailee had always been more of the friend type than the girlfriend type. Not to say Flynn saw her that way --- but the men she met tended not to see her in a romantic light. “Are you trying to tell me you want to kiss me again, Flynn O’Malley?”

“It could just be my first symptom, how’s anyone to know?” Lily teased with a laugh. “I’m not the biggest honey fan.”

“It’s what happens when the temperature starts to drop outside, the sniffles begin and we have to adjust for the whole fall and winter.”

“Oh, they’re fantastic, and gorgeous to boot. You’ll have to go sometime. You’ve no idea how relaxing they are. I have! I took some pictures along the coast for a travel magazine once. What were you studying abroad, if I may ask?”

“Oh it was only a summer semester, and we learned the history of the country and we studied art there too. To be honest, and as horrible as it sounds, I looked at it more as a chance to see a new place rather than a time to study.”

“Five thousand is what they settled for. You should see the ten thousand ones,” Flynn couldn’t help but chuckle at her reaction. The two of them seemed to come from such different backgrounds but he liked that about her. As she got up, Flynn was worried at first that he shouldn’t have brought the kiss up but the feeling soon fled him as he saw her grab the brownies. “You are going to have to pay for my gym membership soon,” he joked grabbing a napkin in brownie, but he didn’t bite into yet as he set it on his thigh. “But I’m glad you feel that way.” A small smile pulled at his lips. “So uh, do you think that maybe a repeat of that would ever be something you’d like to happen again?”

They truly did come from different worlds but to say it made an impact on their friendship (or perhaps more?) would be a lie. Regardless of their backgrounds, Bailee felt comfortable with Flynn and over the few months she’d known him had found a real connection with the man. “One brownie doesn’t hurt,” she told him with a smile that scrunched up her nose. Bailee sat sideways to face him, her elbow resting on the back of the couch and hand propping her head up as he mentioned their kiss without saying the actual word. “Would I like for it to happen again? I’d very much like for it to happen again,” Bailee told him truthfully. “But I should be honest with you, I don’t just go kissing boys for the sake of kissing them. It’s not the type of person I am.”

“I was stuck on the cuteness, not the sanitation aspect. You really can’t blame me for it,” he pointed to the cat as if to pad his argument. “That sounds like one of those you mean to look for a couple minutes then next thing you know you’re in 30 minutes deep.”

“Thirty minutes? Try an hour and a half,” Bailee said with an embarrassed laugh. “I forgot to set a timer on my cookies and burned them to a crisp.”

“If you don’t have them though you don’t know any different. Animals don’t really go well with five thousand dollar rugs,” he tried to laugh it off. “Keeps you entertained too, huh?” He teased, smiling as he rested his arm on the back of the couch. “I’ve been good and you don’t need to be sorry. Everyone has had their shit since that weekend. But I can’t say everything that happened that day was bad. In fact, there was something pretty great,” he referenced their kiss.

“There are rugs that cost that much?” Bailee’s eyes widened slightly, finding it hard to imagine something you walked on could cost so much money. She shook her head slightly in disbelief, a short laugh following. In the moment she remembered the brownies baked for his visit and Bailee stood from the couch, a smile gracing her lips at the mention the day of the storm hadn’t been all bad. “I still back to that day fondly even with everything that happened,” she told him as she walked into her kitchen and grabbed the plate of brownies sitting on the counter. They hadn’t spoken about what happened and Bailee wasn’t entirely sure if it had been something which happened by chance or something he meant to happen. “Brownie?” She set the plate down on the coffee table with a stack of napkins and sat back down at his side.

“It really is! And everything I’ve seen is so beautiful! You know, people keep asking me that but it’s so hard to choose, I think the answer changes every time. It depends on what mood I’m in or how nostalgic I am. Today it’s the hot springs in Iceland.”

“I didn’t know Iceland had hot springs,” she said with amazement. “I’ll admit I haven’t seen a lot of the world. The only place I’ve ever visited outside of the country was Greece, it was for a summer semester abroad and my goodness was it beautiful. Have you been?”

“Most of the time, yeah.” Delilah cuddled the cat a little, trying to make it eel more comfortable. “I spent a lot of time with my aunt and uncle on their farm growing up and I just loved taking care of the animals and helping.”

“What a coincidence, my parents own a farm back in Tennessee -- It’s where I grew up! Do you ever go back?”

Jameson had arguments left in the holster, but he didn’t feel like being quite the prick he could be. He rose his brows slightly as she went on, ashing the cigarette before returning it to his lips. “I don’t know,” he shrugged, furrowing his brows slightly. “Started when I was young and now it’s just– well, stress relief… addiction.”

“Huh,” Bailee said as she thought about his reasoning. “I can understand that. I wouldn’t say I’m addicted to baking -- it’s something I love to do and often if I’m feeling a little stressed or down I tend to over-bake to make myself feel better. And I think it has a lot to do with knowing other people will feel better too because who doesn’t like spontaneous sweets?”

“You of all people should know better, working as a chef and all.” Bailee shook her head with a small laugh before offering a gracious smile. “I wish I could take credit for something as wonderful as Caturdays however I believe the internet coined the term. It’s a very fun hashtag to scroll through though.”
