Indie Modern ACD Wiggins || est. 2016, revamp 2020 written by Ozzy || sideblog to bakerstreetramblings
the-knife-with-an-edge:
“Your side, My side. Our side…Mostly my side. ” She shrugged. “You’re a lot older than I remember. How long as it been? 5…10…15 years? ”
“Yer not one’a us. Ain’t ever gonna be.
Long ‘nough. What’s it to ya?”
@ochrepaints || continued x.
"No more so than anyone else,” Jamie replied bluntly. The barbed comment was delivered with a smile which didn’t reach her bright eyes, and she leaned forwards and rested her crossed arms on her knees in a slightly patronising gesture, the way she always dealt with Wiggins and her other child employees.
Truthfully, he was fairly intelligent for a boy of his age and background -- what he lacked in academic education he made up for in social intelligence, which was more than could be said for a majority of adults. It was this natural cleverness which had drawn Jamie to him in the first instance, and convinced her to keep him in her employ. Children could gather information which adults could not, and were less noticeable in certain situations. Though Jamie Moriarty was obviously not a gang leader, she could see the appeal of using children as go-betweens and carriers. She beheld the boy for a moment longer before asking, “I assume you have news, Master Wiggins?”
He gave a hurrumph at her snide comment, nose and lip wrinkling up as if he’d smelt something rotten. Just because he didn’t do schooling like any proper child, didn’t make him stupid. In fact, he was quite smart. Street smart. And social smart. And smart enough to survive. That’s really all you needed to live out here on the streets of New York.
Dark amber eyes held on to hers in a long silent staring contest. One that any child would strain to be the man on top for. Holding off an answer to her question in exchange for the building silence as eyes matched each other.
Finally, “I ain’t stupid,” Wiggins repeated, then leaned back with a half toothless cheeky grin. Perhaps overconfident. “I tell ya half, ya pay. Then ya’s get the rest.” he knew by now never to work for free. Only idiots worked for free.
ericbrandonrp:
“Ye saw nothin’, ye lil shite!” Simply because there hadn’t been anything the kid could have seen. Hell, Eric hadn’t done anything! Not lately, anyway. “Now ge’ lost.” Like some puppy having sunk his teeth into his leg. “Foind some other eejit ye can ‘nnoy. Go play in traffic, man.”
A stiff scowl. A pouted folding lip - using his young features to inspire sympathy. But giving up on that after a moment, as the guy seemed to have little care. “ ‘m gonna get Stephen’s an’ e’s gonna ‘ave ‘is word with yas,” an attempted threat, as if Wiggins actually had some buff guy at his beck and call.
the-knife-with-an-edge:
“All sides are my sides. One would think you’d know this by now Wiggins. — I get tired of repeating myself. ”
“Right, I’ll just go ‘n tell that t’ th’ lads- let ‘em have their say ‘bout it
we all got ‘sides. Don’t get confident who’s you’re part of. Not everyone’d agree.”
ericbrandonrp:
“I–no! No, I’m no’ gonna empty me pockets for ye lil snotty bra’!” Did he seriously have to defend himself from some kid? This was like straight out of a bad movie. “The fuck d’ye think y’are?”
“An int’rested party-” the kid retorted, having far too much confidence for his young age and small stature - especially up against this brawn guy. But Wiggins also dealt with plenty of people - angry and aggressive physical ones at that.
“Ya’s go’ it- I know ya’s do. I saw ya’s,” he accused sharply, with quite a bit of sass.
|| open
“I didn’t steal it!” Really, just because he was a thief and made his living with it, didn’t mean he just stole everything and anything left, right, and center. Eric was a professional, he didn’t need to break into random houses to steal whatever he could find. The thought alone was ridiculous. Eric scoffed. “Wha’ happened t’yer bloo’y ‘I trust ye’?”
“Ain’ trustin’ a bleedin’ thief is what-” the kid barked back, echoing the others choice words. “You go ‘n prove it, then. Go on,” he urged with a nod to the others hands and pockets. “Empty ‘em,”
“It’s pretty strange that we keep running into one another.”
“Is it? Ya keep wand’rin’ ‘round this side. Our side.”
itsusxallysubtext:
“Oh, I’d never bribe.” John replied with a slight smile. “I’m just saying, It would be a shame if I had to eat this all on my own.” He then added, breaking the pastry in half and handing the other over to the boy.
Wary eyes narrow as he watches the movement. So tempting. Temptation wins. A chalky and dirt covered hand quickly shoots out to grab the offered pastry. Then brings the crumbly treat up to chapped lips with a welcomed hum of satisfaction.
itsusxallysubtext:
“Well, then I am afraid I’m going to have to eat this all on my own, huh?” He replied, pulling out the pastry he had gotten at the bakery just down the street. “What a shame…”
“Is tha’ an offer or a bribe-” the lad hesitates. The pastry certainly did look savory. And it was fresh, he could smell it. And suddenly the constant pit of an empty stomach, seemed to grow.

"Heard you the first time," Sherlock waves his hand in the air as he stumbles into the sitting room with no little effort. He looks around for a moment, squinting his eyes as they adjust to the feeble yellow light dimly lighting the place. It's quiet. All too quiet. No John, for starters, which is always a tragedy. No Mrs Hudson ( she's out with Mrs Turner, he notices after a quick glance at the staircase ) and, oh, beautiful, the little kid is here. That would explain the talking, then.
Sherlock flops down into his armchair, limbs numb from the drug still circulating in his system. He sniffles, throwing his head back for a moment. It hurts. Brilliant. "Please be quick, I have better things to do as you can tell." Better things, as in shooting himself up to numbness, now that John isn't here. He's never going to be back, isn't he? He doesn't care.
He’d heard a few words about the detective being out again - out at the dens and around the alleys. And while Wiggins could slink into them if he wanted to, there were a few less than friendly faces he was currently avoiding. And he knew Holmes would be making it back this way eventually. He’s been waiting a little while. Though Wiggins didn’t mind too much. It was quiet, and empty - and dry - inside the flat (don’t ask how he got in). And he didn’t have coppers racing after him.
“Only said i’ once,” he’s already made himself at home, perched on top of the desk (amid cluttered papers), and only now pushing himself to slide off. And land rather lightly - and silently - to the floor.
“Ya still wantin’ t’is then?” nimble hands slide into jacket pocket, pulling out a crumpled scrap of paper, folded a few times. Holding it at a taunting distance. It has an address. A few numbers. And he’s the second piece in his pocket: a non descript map of sorts. Something that only makes sense to the boy - and the detective. “Or ‘ave ya all gone t’ the dogs,” a nod off to the detective’s current condition. Wiggins was not exactly foreign to a bloke on a bender.

"I'd be a TERRIBLE detective's assistant if I was spying on you, and you noticed, don't you think?" John chuckled, shaking his head. "No. I just came to check on you."
“So ya were’s spyin’,” Wiggins decided, cautiously lowering the rolled tobacco pinched between two fingers. Suspicious piercing eyes, considering he was rather hard to FIND and preferred to come to you. “Don’ need checkin’ in. ‘less ya’ve a job.”
* JOHN WICK FRANCHISE PROMPTS ,
i'll kill them, i'll kill them all.
where the fuck are you?
i lost everything.
if you cut a king, you better cut him to the quick.
consider this a professional courtesy.
i gotta say, i'm a pretty big fan.
i apologize for calling you at this hour.
nothing's ever just a conversation with you.
it's seems to be fate, or happenstance, or just bad fucking luck caused our paths to cross once again.
i know what you're thinking.
do i look civilized to you?
they know you're coming.
you may never return home.
do you think you can scare me into opening this gate?
are you scared of the fucking boogeyman?
you don't want me owing you.
are you sure a protracted war is the best way forward?
you look terrible.
this haven is safe no more.
you look as bad as i feel.
they sure as fuck broke the mold with you.
why do you want to live?
let us not resort to our baser instincts and handle this like civilized men to move on.
i need something robust, precise.
it's been a while, my condolences, how're you holding up?
do you really wanna die here?
i'll have to get back to you.
everything's got a price.
i heard about your wife, and i'm sorry.
how do you feel? 'cause i am really pissed off.
a man can stay here a long time and never eat the same meal twice.
it's okay, let's go home.
this kingdom is mine and mine alone.
are you here on business?
people keep asking if i'm back and i haven't really had an answer.
i say the odds are about even.
why don't you take the night off?
i was just sorting some stuff out.
have you thought this through?
my god! how long has it been?
you came to me, i helped you; if you don't do this, you know the consequences.
after this, we are less than even.
i'm not that guy anymore.
i'm retired.
i can't help you, i'm sorry.
there's no rhyme or reason to this life, it's days like today scattered among the rest.
you look good, and here i'd feared you'd left all this behind.
that was a pretty good fight, huh?
you want a war?
i once saw him kill three men in a bar with a pencil, with a fucking pencil.
so tell me, how was life on the other side?
to what do we owe the pleasure?
a gift from the boogeyman, perfect for every occasion.
seven million dollars is a lot of money.
i try to dissuade them from these childish notions, but as you know, art is pain: life is suffering.
i'm not telling you shit!
if you want peace, prepare for war.
everything all right?
well, i wouldn't recommend that you eat one.
do you need anything for the pain?
what are you really doing here?
people don't change, you know that; times, they do.
i heard you struck my son.
are we negotiating?
he was the one you sent to kill the fucking boogeyman.
now, as i recall, weren't you the one tasked to dole out the beatings, not to receive them?
are services still off limit to me?
you had your chance.
i thought i'd let myself in.
you have nothing, vengeance is all you have left.
i can make this right.
we can keep this up as long as you'd like, but it only ends one way.
my apologies. i was dealing with an uninvited guest.
your stitches'll tear and you'll bleed, but you'll have full function.
do you expect him to make it out?
we're not going in like the old days, just a conversation.
if you still have business to attend to, take two of these beforehand.
if you're looking to heal, then keep it marginal.
can't say i blame him, i would've done the same thing if i was in his shoes.
that's unwise, i assure you.
in that moment, i received some semblance of hope.
don't worry about me, i just gotta catch my breath.
you still need something, someone to love, so start with this.
you dip so much as a pinky back into this pond, you may well find something reaches out and drags you back into its depths.
you, uh, working again?
sometimes you gotta cut a motherfucker.
fuck management.
an eye for an eye, you know how it goes.
so what sort of movement am i looking at?
i'm sorry I can't be there for you.
you're not very good at retiring.
oh, and remember, you owe me.
you stabbed the devil in the back and forced him back into the life that he had just left.
it's not what you did that angers me so, it's who you did it to.
you've broken the rules.
could you recommend anything for the end of the night?
i am all seeing, and i am all knowing.
treat all your ladies like this?
under the table is where shit gets done.
the bodies he buried that day laid the foundation of what we are now.

bakerstreetxregular:
“Mhm, I work wit’ Mr. ‘olmes,” the boy nodded in acknowledgement, adjusting the cap on his head with confidence. “Says ya gots yerself stuck on a fine on’.”
John sat upright, cheek twitching slightly to that.
“You know that’s his fault? But no matter. You know how to work out puzzles?”
“D’pen’s on t’ puzzle.” a rather nonchalant shrug of the shoulders. This boy had a bit too much confidence for his own good. “But I know hows t’ find people - an’ I knows me way ‘bouts t’ city.”
bakerstreetxregular:
Standing straight (ish) and puffing his chest, a salute to the forehead, the boy introduced himself. “Wiggins a’ yer service,”
Look at him from top to bottom John did, though all he saw really was a scruffy boy that showed up out of nowhere like he was looking for something the doctor was certain he didn’t possess. And then he remembered something.
“―Sherlock?”
Confirming his acquaintance.
“Mhm, I work wit’ Mr. ‘olmes,” the boy nodded in acknowledgement, adjusting the cap on his head with confidence. “Says ya gots yerself stuck on a fine on’.”
