The word “late” was ringing in my mind as I climbed the mountains in a piece of crap rental car around 7pm. Darkness was approaching, and I should have been on the mountain two hours ago. But then, my eyes shifted off the winding road for a moment to sneak a peak at golden hour. A double take with heightened eyebrows had me pulling off the side of the road, rustling through my suitcases for my camera, and running up a trail to find the best view. I sat here beside wildflowers for fifteen minutes. Had I not been running late, these photos wouldn’t exist.
