okay so.. in charmanders lament.. whats up with the "lying is scary" line? im not sure there were any particularly awful lies in the series that i can think of off the top of my head?

it could be a commentaring on gengar seemingly lying to charmander about "if you sing this song, you wont turn into a gastly" but that doesnt make much sense imo since gengars the one who says "lying is scary"

charmander was very brash and didnt lie much, not counting sarcasm. he was very straight-forward about what he wanted. i mean i guess theres the stuff he said to whiskers right before he died but idk if he was really lying? not sure!! does anyone have any ideas on this? :0

OKAY SO. MY THEORY ON WHAT THE "LYING IS SCARY" LINE?

a heavy theme in the song is charmander saying "i was wrong", and "i regret all the words that ive said"

so what if the gengar is meant to be an omnipotent being, not necessarily a GOD but kinda more like abomasnow from episode 10!! he judges the spirits of those who have died, and if they lie to him, they get turned into gastlys (and a mini theory with no bearing to it: maybe the ghastlys do his bidding? :0)

idk if anyones ever played/seen the game "before your eyes" but my theory about gengar is kinda inspired by that!!

(that being said i prefer the idea that charmander is actually regretful of his actions, this was just the only thing i could think of. furthermore, the definition of "lament" probably disproves the whole "charmander is lying" thing but idk)
