I once saw someone say that Jesper sends Jan letters post-Crooked Kingdom about how much he wishes Jan could visit him and Wylan at the Van Eck estate, and how he's looking forward to meeting him, knowing damn well Jan is in prison and couldn't visit if he wanted to, just to get back at him for the letters he sent to Wylan, and that is canon to me now.
