gimme kevin not knowing where he'll stand after he graduates. andrew ans neil will have eachother, jean will have jeremy. he will be the only one without a partner. he knows whatever he has with andrew and neil isn't likely to last, more likely to be some passing phase that they exit soon enough. he doesn't know if he can keep their attention without his body--everyone likes his body. but he's tired of that, he's tired of the endless comments and looks and everything. so, if this is what leads them to stop being whatever they were, kevin is going to accept that.
but andrew and neil, as time inches by towards graduation. don't let go. infact, they hold on even for longer now. a hand or two in his hair, lingering before withdrawing. holding his jaw and inspecting his face for a tad too long. using kevin as a pillow for hours at a time (not that kevin minds)
the day before graduation, kevin is trying on his grad outfit and cap. it fits well, he supposes. better than highschool. andrew and neil are watching in the background, silently. stewing on something kevin can't even guess what. they look to eachother and back at kevin, he makes eye contact with them through the mirror. "don't be a stranger" is what neil choses to say
"visit" says andrew, though he looks like the word coming out of his mouth is paining him. kevin doesnt know if this is pity of genuine sportsmanship or the secret third option of whatever he and these two have going on. neil wouldnt be cruel enough to pity him and andrew would rather eat his own hand than pity something and express it. so, two options. both arw something kevin can work with, he nods.
he can't recall graduation. too much waiting and stress and people watching. when kevin reaches seattle, he sets his two bed two bath apartment up. his bedroom is regular, a queen sized bed and simple furniture. the bedroom next door, is for andrew and neil (and kevin, if they want him there) though, and has much more than the simple framework of his own bedroom. dark wood (mahogany, kevins brain supplies) dresser and desk, a closet with two pairs of pajamas, a california king with sheets of the highest thread count. neil likes the softer textiles, says it feels better on his skin. and andrew likes the look of mahogany. the bathroom kevin has for himself is clinical, boring. just how he prefers it
the bathroom he has for them is stocked with everything. literally. neil's usual 5-1 shampoo, andrew's luxurious shampoo and conditioner that would have allison of all people jealous. the specific razor brand neil uses. scar creme he knows all three of them use.
he finds himself in that bed more often than not. falling alseep easier with the reminders of them, no matter how fake they might be.
but soon, for winter break, they do come over and kevin reluctantly retreats back to his own room. they stare at him the next morning. ask him what's wrong. ask him to stay in bed with them. kevin agrees (he knows it's not gonna be sexual because neil is blunt and straightforward about sex. he would've said so.) and he falls into their bed once more. he falls asleep quicker than ever before in this apartment, and andreil spend the rest of that day quietly whispering to eachother as he dozes in their arms and care.
they fall back into rhythme for a few days, but soon enough, it's time for them to go. they say the same things as before. neil's firm and unrelenting, 'don't be a stranger'. and andrew's still-reluctant but less miserable 'visit'.
