thorin (aged 29 as of august 2025) is a midfielder and the captain of erebor united, one of the best clubs in the world
[ i say that but im conflicted about whether to let them best manchester united, my actual favourite club in real life. maybe ill let them win 1 out of 2 :ā) ]
bilbo (also 29) is a writer who mostly writes childrenās books (he wrote a popular anthology series called āhobbits of the shireā), and heās a single adoptive parent taking care of frodo after his bio parents died
other major players in erebor united include
- fĆli (22-23), the left winger;
- kĆli (18, the clubās current āstarboyā), the right winger;
- dwalin (28), the goalkeeper;
- and fransesko ameron (24), the striker (who is also my new oc :3)
the reason for these ages is because the age range of footballers in real life is pretty narrow. players can be as young as lamine yamal, who first started for barcelona at 15, but that is a rare instance. but most players retire from football before 40, like antoine griezmann at 35.
the reason why thorin and bilbo are together initially is because they collab on a new novel for older audiences (bilboās publisher is pestering him to). the novelās story is essentially the same as the canon hobbit book, except they knowingly have thorin and erebor unitedās players insert themselves as dwarves. so they would have references to the real life erebor united which would appeal to young supporters
balin isnāt a player, instead heās thorinās agent, so heās the one who arranged for bilbo and thorin to formally meet about the book in the first place
frodo (maybe 12-13 years old) and his friends sam, pippin, and merry are all huge fans of erebor united (thorin is frodoās idol) and they all run an erebor united youtube channel together where they livestream match reactions. i recommend you go watch some match goal reactions because theyāre actually so fun lmao
