If you saw my last post, you'll know that I've been putting a lot of time and energy into putting together a few screen accurate Twelfth Doctor cosplays. Though initially unimpressed, through Peter...

“Don’t you dare close your eyes.”

He fidgeted nervously, not quite knowing what she was up to, and worried about making that particular promise. He wasn’t even entirely sure where she was, but he answered her anyway, running a hand through his hair. “Well…they’re open? What are you doing?”

Lovely as this was, it became exponentially better with Margaery’s lips pressed to his. Contact was nice, and he thought perhaps could use the distraction to hold himself together a little better. Up until she began to move, of course.

The Doctor groaned softly into the kiss, fingers clutching tightly at her hips, if not enough to bruise, and he broke off from her for just a moment to rest his forehead against hers, trying to breathe and reflecting just how good it felt to have her all around him this way.

Margaery chuckled, just as breathless as the Doctor. She pressed warm, feather light kisses to the Time Lord’s face, and if she didn’t know how exactly to express how lovely it felt to move with him, she made no effort to hide it. 

She grinned at the way his fingers curled at her hips, concentrating on falling into a slow, easy rhythm. Margaery canted her hips in favor of offering herself a little more friction, and hissed through her teeth with pleasure as she moved.

"Are you asleep?"

Margaery sighed, cracking an eye open at the Doctor. “Well, I was.”

"Where are you going?"

He wasn’t sick. Couldn’t be sick. Time Lord’s didn’t get sick. Or at least, that’s what he’d been determined to convince himself.

But that was two days ago.

At least, before things had gotten too serious, he’d managed to pin down the fact that he wasn’t actually dying. It was terrible, though. Trying to hide it from Margaery had been a complete bust, especially as things had only gotten worse and worse, his usually cool temperature had risen far higher than the danger levels one might find in humans, and didn’t seem to be stopping so far.

Her voice pulled the Time Lord back from whatever trance he’d been in, and he made a soft, pitiful whimper, slumping against the wall to keep himself from face planting against the grating again. There’d been no need whatsoever for him to get out of bed, only it suddenly seemed terribly important that he finally catalogue the Medical Bay the way he’d been intending to the last decade or so. Not that he’d made it very far.

The Doctor wasn’t feeling quite so miserable now, and a shower would probably be nice. Although, that’d have to wait until he managed coaxing himself out of bed. 

“Heeey,” the Time Lord croaked, lips twitching up in a weak smile. Even feeling better, being so ill had taken a lot out of him, and for the moment he probably wasn’t going to be getting very far. “You’re still here.”

Margaery smiled right back, warm and indulgent. That he was greeting her directly was quite promising. She fondly thumbed at his cheek, pleased to see him doing a little better. “Of course I’m still here, you dolt. Where else would I go?”

His mouth tasted like copper. “Ey,” Cam rasped as he caught sight of her. “Dun get scared, I jest got a bit s’dated las’night. ‘mfine.” His voice was slow and hoarse, as if he’d been screaming a lot or something. “I missed ye.”

He let his eyes slip closed and just listened. It was good to let her words carry him off, away from where he was for a bit. The ridiculousness of some scenes even had him smile a bit.

It seemed the most natural thing to be confiding in Cam. Even if it weren’t, they were only dreams, she supposed, and if it made him feel better, she could set aside her pride for a while. It also seemed quite natural to reach out and touch as she rattled on. Margaery smoothed her fingers over Cam’s hair and down his back a little ways, her palm offering gentle pressure over the blankets.

He shook his head slightly. “‘sokay, I jest- I fergot I was physical,” Cam said quietly. That probably didn’t make sense, but it felt like he hadn’t moved for ages, trapped in bed in his head. To be suddenly reminded that he had a body (with shame attached) had thrown him off a little.

Margaery had no idea what he meant, but she nodded anyway. Though the urge was there to reach out, she kept her hands in her lap, not wanting to cause any distress.

He turned to face her, a little slow and clumsy. “Can ye-” Cam licked his lips and swallowed, cleared his throat. “Jest.. talk about stuff?”

Margaery wondered if she was looming, sitting like she was. She didn’t crawl under the covers, but she scooted down to lie beside Cam, facing him. “Alright. What would you like me to talk about. I’m afraid my goings on would be frighteningly boring. ”

He gave a small shrug. “Anythin’ tha’s not here?” Cam closed his eyes. “Sumthin’ happy.”

"Happy? I think I can handle that. " Margaery smiled at Cam, almost nose to nose. At a loss for anything else, she fell back on telling him of the strange dream she'd had the night before. They happened rather a lot, nonsensical adventures that felt so real in the moment though they couldn't be true.

As rare as it was for a Time Lord to get sick, if he hadn’t barricaded himself at the beginning of all this when his mental faculties were entirely intact, she probably wasn’t in any danger. The Doctor wouldn’t have risked her safety with something so brutal.

His skin temperature was uncomfortably hot to the touch, and if the heat of her skin was better than blankets alone, he still shivered and shook, pressing as close as possible. The hand to his cheek was a terrible comfort, and awful as it was, it wouldn’t be forever. Sleep would probably do him some good, and so he did his best to relax, trying to ignore just how terrible he felt enough to get some rest.

It wasn’t comfortable, especially not as warm as the Doctor was. Margaery stayed though, without a word of complaint. Pressing a kiss to the Doctor’s temple, she settled against the pillows, cradling the Time Lord close. 

Eventually Margaery fell asleep herself. It was light and restless, but she did sleep, hoping that things would be a little better when they woke up again.

Most of the night was spent in and out of bouts of delirium, nonsensical murmurs filling up the spaces between them whenever he happened to be conscious. But finally, at some point in the night, his fever broke.

He woke, shuddering, sweat clinging to his skin as his bod tried desperately to cool itself back down. Cockatoo fringe left plastered to his forehead. Upsettingly damp was an almost acceptable alternative to freezing, though, but more than that, he seemed to be able to think clearly, and that was much better.

Though she knew he would probably be fine, Margaery still worried. She loved him, and without the Doctor, she was stranded. Every move he made jarred her awake.

As uncomfortable as finding herself curled around a damp time lord was, she was relieved the fever had broken. Ignoring all that, she brushed the Doctor's matted hair aside to kiss his forehead. "Hello you. "

“Oh Cam…” Margaery’s brows creased with concern. She reached out almost instinctively, smoothing her fingers through Cam’s hair as she pressed a kiss to his temple. “I missed you, too. What happened?”

His forehead was a little clammy, his hair slightly damp. Cam let his eyes slip shut for a moment. “I got shouty. ‘sfine. How’re ye?”

Given the sort of institution this was, and the things she knew reasonably weren’t entirely well with Cam, it shouldn’t have been a surprise. It didn’t break her heart any less for that. Pestering him about what had happened probably wouldn’t do him any good, so she let it go, hoping he might tell her later. 

“What can I do?” she asked instead, taking a seat beside Cam. “What do you need?”

He blinked slowly and took a deep breath. “Jest ye bein’ here helps,” Cam admitted almost shyly, as if he didn’t want to admit how much he was attached to her. An emotion he couldn’t name coursed through him, plainly visible on his face, something between embarrassment and fear.

“Then, I will stay as long as you’d like, ” Margaery assured him. There was no hint judgement in her expression, just unabashed fondness. She didn’t delude herself that there was nothing wrong with Cam, but she cared for him all the same. They made a somewhat strange pair, but she didn’t care much about that either. Shooing Cam to move over, she flopped down beside him, her fine dress fluttering around her.

She surprised him, but he moved over all the same. “I haven'showered,” Cam croaked, voice a little more high pitched. They’d been close, sitting close, sitting on beds, too, but he’d never actually been in the bed, laying down and everything.

He pulled the blankets up a bit, feeling a little exposed even though he was wearing pyjamas. “O-arright.” The drugs in his system kept him slow, but he was a little stressed about this, below the surface.

If Margaery tended to bluster through things with Cam, it was strategic, and not simply her being tone deaf. It also didn't seem to be working this time. She paid close attention, scooting to give him a little space. "Of course, I can move if you'd rather. "
