My first character design project! The assignment was to directly copy five silhouettes, pairs of feet, pairs of feet, pairs of eyes, mouths, and noses from artists who go about character design in a way we find interesting/inspiring, and then do five of each of our own. The stuff in orange are the direct copies, and the things in purple are mine!

(I take absolutely zero credit for the copied stuff obviously… and it is only being used for the sake of my assignment! Please check out the artists credited if you get the chance!)

You are... amazing! Your illustrations... you're... really an inspiration! I'm so nervous about college. I don't think my art's up to par with everyone else, and I'm not smart enough to get through the first year basics without a lot of trouble, but seeing you do so well makes me... determined! I can't believe it took me this long to find your art, you're really a talent!! I guess I have a new inspiration to look up to :')

that being said, i think that you’ll do absolutely great in college! (i’m assuming art school? but maybe not!) i struggled a lot in my foundation year (when i had to take drawing, sculpture, etc) and i dunno if you’ll go through the same stuff i did, but i know you’ll pull through. as long as you put forth an honest effort and drawing is something you love to do, you’ll absolutely pull through. i believe in you!! <3

it’s been about a year since i drew these two for the first time !! (pearl is technically older but that was the first time i redesigned and drew her AS a pearl). to celebrate, i wanted to design the outfits that they wore as crystal gems! bixbite unfortunately perished during the war for earth, but pearl is still around. she just left earth and stopped affiliating with the CG’s after bixbite died. their relationship was very complicated, but they loved each other a whole lot

WHEW… here’s my final for Sophomore Illustration I!! We were each given a movie, and we had to create four illustrations for a special edition DVD. In order are the front cover, the inside booklet, back cover with text/fake barcode, the DVD, and then the back cover sans text just for comparison’s sake! My movie was The Neverending Story, which was tons of fun to work with. :’)
