Today was much better! We bought garden things and then planted and weeded and I got a sunburn and sneezed a lot but it was a really nice day. I made shrimp piccata over rice for dinner and then little dessert bowls with vanilla Greek yogurt, blueberries, and granola. I’m so glad I have another day off tomorrow, we’re gonna have a fire and Ellie is so excited about it.

Would much prefer a Saturday morning hike, but it’s visit day.

I’ve been trying to reframe these trips (and calls and emails) in my head so I don’t hate them as much, but not much luck so far.

Of course it’s not really about me, but it does require time and resources (both financial and emotional) that I’m already feeling short on.

And it’s one area that I have absolutely no one with similar experiences to talk with about it. There’s a few minutes of understanding when you’re waiting in line with other visitors, but I haven’t found much in common with anyone beyond the reason we’re here.

At least it’s a pleasant day to stand outside for an hour, I guess.
