I am SO tired of people acting like this situation is black and white.
Personally, I am neutral, leaning towards the victims side. I don’t believe either side is right or wrong yet, because we truly don’t have enough evidence yet? I’m not at ALL saying Joji is lying, but a lot of their claims are full of assumptions and lack evidence. Both sides have shown very guilt tripp-y behaviors, and unprofessional behavior.
I get a lot of this fan base is young, but we really need to be mature. Saying “she’s tryna ignore it,” “anything but addressing the allegations,” sending rape/death threats, and harassing dandy’s world fans is NOT helping the victims get their apology. If you really want to help, then boycott (don’t buy merch, don’t listen to music, don’t buy cosmetics, don’t play if you’re qualified to give robux for joining, etc.) and keep yourself and others educated. Thats all. No harassing people, no slurs, no threats. I’m sick of being called a “Qwel boot licker” when I correct someone spreading misinformation or tell them I’m neutral.
I’ve also seen a lot of people saying things like “Qwel is lying about what she cant say in her statement!” This is honestly just total bullshit in my opinion. There is absolutely ZERO evidence that Qwel is lying about what she’s allowed to say. Saying this makes it clear that you know nothing about how law or court works, and it’s honestly really embarrassing on your side.
And if you’re really trying to change someone’s mind on the situation, be fucking logical. Telling a Qwel/Rox supporter “you’re ignorant and stupid,” while it is true, isn’t going to change someone’s mind. In fact, it will probably give them the impression that they’re in the right and the people against Qwel are little uneducated children. If you want to change someone’s mind, argue calmly and present ACTUAL evidence. Show them why they’re wrong, and why they should believe you. I swear, it sometimes feels like only 10% of the population knows how to write a proper argument. If you’re yelling at people for playing the game (which does not automatically support Qwel, unless you’re an active spender/premium user who doesn’t do the three games first thing), you should probably hop off the phone and learn what a counterclaim is and how to write one.
I am a HUGE debater—as you can probably see from my last few posts. I have changed people’s opinions, I have failed to change people opinions, I have been in heated arguments, and I have been in calm arguments. The times I changed someone’s mind were when I was arguing calmly and respectfully, explaining properly why someone is wrong, and what their stance should be. You won’t always change their mind, but you’re a lot more likely to be looked upon in a good way and “win” the debate if you’re calm.
Overall, this situation isn't black and white. Based on what the public knows right now, I don't think there's enough evidence to reach definitive conclusions. Qwel could be lying, the accusers could be mistaken or inaccurate on some points, both sides could have parts of the story wrong, or new evidence could change people's understanding. Until more information comes out through the legal process, I think it's better to avoid treating assumptions as facts. We don’t know what’s going on in court. Honestly, we as a fandom really just need to shut up and wait until the court stuff is finished.
