the head explosion was fun, I've never played with efx, but you can get some really cool different shapes out of it. Might be worth making a abstract/texture pack out of them

I couldn't get it to cloth belt properly, so it was done with wind and about three small circles underneath. It's only on the right which is why it looks weird

The cloth was done the usual way, make a circle, wave distort it, bake it. There's not a lot of good documentation on this. so what you'll need is to go to 2cache" on the cloth tag, click caluclate, pick your frame, then right click on the object when you're on the frame and convert state to object. For whatever reason c4d is weirdly obtuse about this and gazillion 20 min long tutorials doesn't help. This is probably basic if you'rejust stumblr upon it, but w/e

Materials wise,it'sthe same old Octane combo.

The light with rainbow attached to the bang Clothes with the usual oil slick effect, low filindex, high index, toyed with as rainbow as ~I could get.

Background is two planes, one with a displacement map, the other just with the same rainbow texture, but slightly brighter. The background has a specular with a refraction as usual

Addition work in photoshop was just some sharpening, some denoising and then applying the image, zoom-blurring it, setting to light and erasing accordingly. I pulled the edges out and turned them into an outlined light source by using the find edges filter and then hand tidying with color range.

Man this went through some CHANGES I really wanted to keep big dramatique sun but thought it was a  a little too lame/lazy for a zine piece. Esp since everyone was like concept artist tier and I was just pissing around. I had more layers to show you but this wont be fully covering the building up because of a major setback.

I did actually have a mocuh better cleaned version but then I fucked up and flattened a psd and save dover it. This was also after  I forgot the flag.I tried AI then to remake the flag, but uh, it didn’t work Literally couldn’t do anything I wanted or understand a flappy flag

but I really wasn’t liking it and so after talking about getting some advice everyone seemed to like the less busy one instead so I went with that.I still have a soft spot for the left. But hardcore paitning overing worked out in the end.

so right after pppppp ended i anger-purchased volume 1-6 and noticed this sequence on the first pages of each volume: (and kinda forgot to take pictures for 2 months)

lucky's face disappears in volume 5 and 6 (after he fought with fanta, the 4v4 and said "i killed my former self"). so i'm very curious what's going to be on this page for volume 7 (lucky-really-Going-Through-It volume) and volume 8 (that ending...). will his face come back? if he has brilliant lucky's face in volume 8 i am going to lose it i stg

finally, after almost 2 months, my copies of volume 7 and 8 arrived (that's on me for choosing cdjapan's cheapest shipping option) so here are the final 2 piano pages

and i just can't with volume 8's piano. i was expecting brilliant lucky to be sitting there on his own (and that alone would have made me sad), but this is just too sad. lucky was alone on volume 1's piano and by volume 8 it somehow worse than that!

@floaromaxtowns So I was a Lux main back in the day. (like 2012/3ish) and for me it was the Marisa-magick-sparkin' skin. It was really popular in old school signature making too. The two was a sorta big lynchpin in my life.

I never got it but I was fond of the scifi/plasma skin or whatever it was called. I just finished playing Strange Journey so it gives me more jibbers now.

As for other ones, i played Noct and but liked Diana. Frozen Noct because muh litch king because i actually liked WOLK/ICC raid. I actually REALLY wanted to learn Fiddle, I always loved his design and skins.

Obviously it was DVD, you know I even got requested to make an old tutorial based on this:

I'm really loving Hikaru as a rival for Akane in Akane-Banashi, because Hikaru and Akane have such a neat role reversal going on: Akane vs Hikaru is "rakugo insider" vs "outsider" but here the protagonist isn't the outsider but the person who's been in the rakugo world for years. It's so refreshing!

@bareterukure Yes all of this so much!! I love all those details that go into their performances that make them similar but with their own specialities.

Also wow, didn't know people were calling Akane-Banashi shilled lmao. I wonder if, according to them, the whole industry is in on it then, as other mangaka are recommending it left and right? :'D

Oh yeah, every time AB gets a color page, there’s seething now. This never happened with the gazillion Yokazora CPs(because that mangaka is a machine)  Yet every damn toc thread on both 4 and futaba, it’s constantly like this:

Doesn’t help that there’s “muh act-age” whiners who seemed to have a nark on for AB (and P6). Like yeah AB is kinda stagnating in sales but why wouldn’t jump try push their 50k sales manga more? Like I know whoever is gonna replace Nakano might be a little less mad than doing things like axing P6 (a stagnated 35k-40k seller) to keep alive two 5k floaters and a near U19 in Ichigoki but double downing on AB is clearly the thing to do. 

I think the other thing is that one unbelievably terrible sumo manga that ranked dead last near constantly and sold like shit but was being financed by Japan’s Sumo Association left a bad taste in people’s mouth. (Even then I don’t entirely believe that because Champion had 2 sumo mangas going that sold better.)

A horror zine piece + wallpaper for Six. Based on the movie ‘Sunshine’

This piece was really old, and when I was first getting used to Octane Materials. I also a cheated a little because I couldn’t get bumps to work well. I drew over the panel in MonsterMesh to make the 3d Six.

Originally I did try to have a Koichi but between daz3d being alien to me now I cut him out.

I hadn’t learned about Mix materials yet, like in my phos piece I posted last, so I just kept stacking spectulars and multiple versions of Six.

This Phos was doen in Octane and a hella lot of texture maniplation then repainting.

I learned a lot about weird displacement mixes. But it allowed for some fun linebacker Phos

This was my most heavy piece, it was super intensive that I couldn’t use live preview for long periods. 

I used the phos head a couple times, I posted many months back a phos/alloy piece which is actually just a rotation of the piece above.
