African wild dogs fun facts!

Their packs are usually made of 7 to 15 members, but can go up to 40 of them.

They’re one of the few animals that take care of the injured, sick and the elderly. They hunt for them, regurgitate the meat and protect them from threats.

One (if not the only?? Idk) of the few mammals where the males remain in the pack even after becoming adults. Usually are the females that leave the pack to enter another. This makes most males in the pack brothers or cousins, and it lowers the chances of fighting.

Both the males and females members take care of raising the pups, hunting and protecting the territory.

They vote before hunting: they sneeze to vote, if the most part of them sneeze, then they go hunt. But if the reproductive couple (“alpha” couple) is favorable to the hunt, they only need some other sneezes. This is called a rally.

How Wolfy is the Nonhuman Community?

It is something that is quite often repeated in therian spaces is the abundance of wolves in particular. Rather than doing the methode where a bunch of species are listed I am curious how close the community on average is to wolf.

Please select the closest common clade. If you do not have a nonhuman identity, please select the bottom result if you wish to see the results to avoid skewing the information. I was lowkey socialized too much as a pup and now when i’m in crowded places i feel nervous and uncomfortable.

I remember some years ago i had crazy body/species dysphoria and lost a concerning amount of weight to look more like a freaking Saluki.

Now the connection to those babies is coming back and i’m kinda scared.😭

This is a very cool question! In answering this, i find myself a bit conflicted, because there’s so much things that i consider beautiful about my identity.

My favorite part probably is how empathetic to other canids it makes me. Feeling and identifying as a genus, makes you very connected to it, and it makes you want to know more about those animals and help them if possible. I monthly donate money to organizations that take care of helping endangered animals (canids more specifically) and I’m learning and taking courses and lessons to become a dog trainer, hoping to make some lives easier.

Beside from that serious answer, i love the silly part!

I love playing, i love being around people, i love staying with my friends or my family. It’s like being in a big pack where we all know and care for each other. Especially with my family life-style, which is very spiritual, accepting and relaxed, i don’t have to hide my identity and my characteristics and i can be myself completely. This only makes me more attached to them as my pack.

I love the identity per se. Cause yes, even if sometimes i may experience body/species dysphoria, most of the time i don’t; i’m very confident about myself, my human body and soul. So, most of the time is just this yearning for the freedom, for nature. This wonderful feeling of existence and being myself while existing and living. This silliness i have with my loved ones or when playing with my dog, or when hanging out with my other therian friends.

So yeah, probably these two things ^ ^

I obviously assume you mean theriotypes and yes, i could say i have more than one! A lot actually…

Beside other terms, i’m a cladotherian, which means i identify as a whole genus of animals (in my case canids and All their subspecies) rather than only a specific one, even if i can have variable stronger connections with a few of them (African Wild Dogs lately).

So, this means that whatever canid exists on this Earth, or existed, is one of my theriotypes.

African Wild Dog (Lycaon Pictus)

Dingo (Canis lupus dingo) and Domestic Dog (Canis lupus familiaris): the Dog is recognized as a subspecies of the Wolf and the Dingo as a subspecies of the Dog.
