Hello and welcome to my blog!!
My name is Waya (Why-ya / Wha-hya), or you can call me Wolf. I'm a Stained Glass artist of 13 years, and a Beadwork artist of 3 years! My works center around animals (mostly wolves) and nature, as well as heritage. Occasionally I make fandom related pieces, but my main focus is animals and nature.
I reside and was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, and love to vend at various events close enough for me to drive to, which is events around and in the Olympia, WA area. I hope to eventually vend at Ren. Fairs and in Leavenworth some day, as well as hold classes on how to do Stained Glass.
This is my full time job, and I am usually doing beadwork or glasswork; there is never a time where I'm NOT working on something.
I am Reconnecting ᏣᎳᎩ (Cherokee) and ᎣᎭᏲ (Ohio) Territory Native, and have been actively learning about my ancestry and heritage for almost 5 years now. I may make some posts featuring artwork I have made inspired by traditional ᏣᎳᎩ designs/symbols and stories, as well as name some pieces in ᏣᎳᎩ.
What I mean by "ᎣᎭᏲ Territory Native" is my ancestors are Native American from what is now Ohio. I am unaware of the tribe, and I will probably never know it, as the tribe was not recorded on paperwork. I have no idea what other term to use, and after years of trying to figure it out, I've settled on this.
I am NEVER claiming to be a professional on anything I post about; I am simply sharing things I was taught and have learned from not only my uncle and grandpa, but friends and mentors who have taught me along my journey + the language courses I am taking and language groups I'm in. Feel more than free to correct me if something I have ever or will ever share is incorrect.
NONE of my pieces inspired by traditional ᏣᎳᎩ designs/symbols/stories will be for sale, and I will not recreate them for commission orders.
