Realized I never posted this at the time I finished it, so here I am posting it now; my very first medallion!
A very ambitious first medallion; took me roughly a year with all the breaks I took from it, but not counting the months I took breaks from it, it took me about 3-4 months total.
For reference of how my work is now, here is my second medallion I've made, which I finished in 5 days.
I've learned a lot since starting and even finishing this piece about a year ago now.
I was inspired to create this for my first medallion from my own personal experience of seeing a jackalope in a field of daisies; I was around the age of 10-12 years old on a school field trip; 2 others saw it with me and it's a childhood moment I deeply treasure.
I wanted the horns to look like they still had lots of velvet on them from growing, so I used matte beads for the majority of the horns and then used shiny bugle beads for the parts of the horns that had the velvet rubbed off.
This is a mix of all kinds of beads; bugles as previously stated, Delicas, Tohos, Preciosas, and larger beads for the edgework.
The necklace itself features pony beads, stone, bone, and some wood.
This medallion has been out of my hands for some time now, as it sold on my Etsy, but I still am proud of this being my first fully finished medallion.
