Capitalism. Specifically, companies can't market to children, and it's easier to resell a metal shoebox than a building with any level of identity.
This Picture shows the Milky Way flowing over its future spectator, ESO’s Extremely Large Telescope (ELT).
Focussing back down on Earth, the ELT will scrutinise the pristine night sky above the Chilean Atacama Desert with unprecedented precision. It will help us learn more about the close environment of Sagittarius A*, the supermassive black hole at the centre of our galaxy. It will analyse the atmospheres of exoplanets, answer questions about the births and deaths of stars we yet cannot even begin to ask, and explore how galaxies form and evolve, among many other exciting questions. We eagerly await the mysteries of the cosmos the world’s biggest eye on the sky will unveil.

Lunch in the Garden (Oil on Canvas) by the Belgian painter Henri Evenepoel, 1897.
Rediscovering my Tumblr archives has been a joy, a return to a simpler time. It's wild to remember how much has shifted since the pre-Instagram days, especially around 2016 when it felt like everyone suddenly became a "photographer."
I miss the simplicity of people sharing small, quiet moments—a cozy coffee shop corner, a glimpse of someone's room—before influencers and the race for engagement transformed everything. Instagram reels turned authenticity into sensationalism, and somewhere along the way, we all started chasing.
Recently, I woke up feeling detached from IG, craving a rewind, a slower pace. I realized I want more of that—simple living.
I used to think I was above following trends, and while I don’t believe I was caught up in fads, I can see now how I got swept up in LA's relentless pace.
May I remind you that you’re a superhero?
