Valentineās Day is coming up, and if you want to show your friends how much you love them hereās the perfect gift ā a wire heart necklace or bracelet.
Pliers, a chain, a clasp, 2 jump rings, jewelry wire (donāt use anything thinner than 20g), a pencil or pen, scissors, and strong glue (E-6000 is good).
First, youāll need to make a wire āropeā:
CutĀ 1 foot of wire. Fold itĀ in half, using a pencil or pen toĀ make a point.
First, youāllĀ make a straight wire āropeā.Ā Hold the ends of the wire with the pliers, thenĀ twist the wire with the pencil.Ā Keep twisting until you get a tight spiral, like in picture 4.
Slide the pencil offĀ the wire, andĀ cut off the loop.Ā It should look like aĀ rope of wire.
Now, letās create the heart:
Fold the āropeā in half,Ā making a V-shapeĀ (picture 4). This will be the top V on the heart.
Place yourĀ pencil on the outside of the V. Loop the wire towards youĀ to create one of the rounded tops of the heart.Ā Flip, and do the sameĀ on the other side (picture 5).
Bring the ends of the wire togetherĀ to make a point.Ā GlueĀ them together. Let dry. (picture 6)
Grab your chain andĀ cut it into two equal lengths. With a jump ring,Ā attach a piece of chain to each sideĀ of the heart (picture 7).
Attach the claspĀ onto the chain to finish.
One you get the hang of the wire twisting and shaping technique, you can make all kinds of shapes.
