His perception was black.
Once the pain had fully lifted from his body, it was like, the ground underneath him had dissolved into air, and Barty's mind gave him a feeling of vague floating, spinning. There was no ache in his bones anymore, not even a tingle on his skin, just a heavy numbness soothing through his entire body, while he was at the same time illogically made more aware of every other sense, but his sight. He could feel his blood running to his cheeks, he could feel the air against his skin, he could feel his lashes, hitting faintly against his face, as his eyes fluttered once more. And he saw.
He saw Regulus, and his heart was beating. It helped nothing, the way the two boys were placed at the moment, with the older one standing above him, his judging stare piercing through his mind like something of profound sharpness. Barty let out a breath, maybe only as an excuse to move his head, to avert his eyes, or whatever you may see. He had lost, that should be his main concern right now, he should be panicking, but yet, he wasn't. And so, the boy thought he felt nothing, even though in this case, "nothing" was simply something strange, that he hadn't yet found the word for. He didn't like it.
"I wasn't trying to hurt you", he said, which was, of course, an extremely believable statement coming from the person who had just sneaked into his housemate's bedroom in the middle of the night in an attempt to abduct him, "I didn't want to, you see... I, you have protective charms. Test them"
For all it was worth, the boy wasn't thinking much, right now , before he let words come out of his mouth, but nevertheless he kept going, in a strange sense of duty. Slowly, he lifted himself up in order to get closer to eye level of the taller boy, and though he picked up his wand again, his body language, and posture made it clear that he did not intend on using it on him again right now. "I don't know why I didn't think this through completely", he said again, and knew that it hadn't been a smart thing to say at all, just for how easily this sentence could made a case against him, yet he felt a strong urge to explain himself in honesty to Regulus. He felt like it was well-deserved (Or, maybe, Regulus had just sent a silent "Confundo" on to his way)
"I feel sorry for this thing", a strange thing coming out of his mouth, even more so when he almost meant it, "Yet the reasons for thing, let them repeat themselves, and they are justified, and this is.. Good. You wouldn't have been hurt" And maybe the next sentence he uttered was a sign, not one of meaning, or bonding, or anything close to that, but a sign of utter, and complete madness for what else could lie in that confession? "He told me to do it. I have to"
