Ecological Spirituality
You can see signs in a leaf, a mountain trail, a dewdrop, and in a poor person’s face. The idea of reflection really falls back on perspective and how we can use our perspective to become wiser, to learn and grow. This is essentially saying that when we can see life in this way, where we reflect on anything and everything, that God will be in our hearts and God will allow us to see signs in everything around us. This mindset is one of ecological spirituality. -Writing Assignment #5

An example from nature and being patient comes from allowing trees to grow and mature which can take on average 15 to 20 years, a woodworking shop will build sustainable products as described in the text and await some new trees to grow before going back and chopping more down. This is essentially working at the same speed as nature to give nature enough time to heal. This way is one of sustainability and encouraging a quality product. While today on the other hand, we cut more trees down than nature can replenish. Our endeavors have allowed us to think out of greed not sustainability.

"There is a growing need for respecting the rights of people, their cultures, and how they have developed socially and historically. This allows us to be compassionate and understand others instead of breaking them down or taking advantage of their weaknesses and vulnerabilities. We must promote peace. We should weave bonds of belonging and togetherness and tear down barriers of selfishness and ego."
Week #2 Written Assignment
Practice The Principles!
"there was a powerful idea that there is an inseparable connection and harmony with God and others, with nature and with himself, between nature and justice for the poor, commitment to society, and interior peace. One reason for this is that we are living a life which can be referred to as ‘rapidification’, which is the speed of human activity working in this complex system of ours. On the contrary though, nature moves at a much slower pace, to build, maintain and sustain its balance. Human nature is built in a way which is hasty, but we must be able to control ourselves and take the lessons and signs from our natural environment. Our growth is causing us to rely on caffeine and medications to keep us going instead of finding natures balance. We are disrupting our natural environments with the need to keep up with a fast paced technological era, with the growth hormones, chemicals and preservatives in our foods, with deforestation, with natural resource mining. We are so caught up in building and advancing that we neglect ourselves and the blessings we have been given. The earth demands a natural process of healing and we are abusing this principle. We have turned greedy and are spending all our money before we can receive another paycheck, rather than develop a plan and evaluate what we have a capacity for today, so that tomorrow and a year from now we can still live comfortably. We do not think of sustainability anymore, we think the tank is always running full and that is our biggest mistake."
