Base-ology: What story are you trying to tell with your wardrobe?

Esmae: I think it's so important that girls are confident and comfortable in their own skin, I used to think I had to look a certain way to be "pretty" or popular but I've learned its who we are and not what we wear that makes us valuable. What we wear just helps us express that to other people and accentuate our beauty as people. I also love that clothing and what we wear can communicate our personalities and interests to other people. Basically, I would want my wardrobe's story to be that we can all tell our own individual story with our clothing - we don't have to be the same as everyone else!

B: How do you liked to express yourself creatively?

E: I like to express myself creatively by taking photos (yay Instagram!), decorating my house (i'm a chronic furniture re-arranger), and by putting together outfits, whether its finding something cool at the thrift store and re-purposing it, or helping my friends figure out what they are going to wear to make them feel confident!

B: What items of clothing can you not live without?

E: I don't think I could live without comfy band tees or just a good pair of jeans!

B: Velvet or Lace?

E: Velvet!!

B: If you could wear anything to a holiday party what would it be?

E: That's a hard question! haha so many options! If I could wear anything to a holiday party it would be sleek and black with a pop of color or texture. Probably a jumpsuit with a nice faux fur coat and heels.

B: Where do you draw inspiration from?

E: I love looking at old magazines, movies, photo albums. I also love watching the fashion shows and seeing some of the really cool street style bloggers to get inspiration

B: What is your favorite holiday?

E: I'd have to say Christmas.

B: Tell us about a holiday tradition of yours.

E: When I was younger, my grandparents would come over early on Christmas morning and wake us up with huge cinnamon rolls! Now they still come over but my sisters and I help cook breakfast for them. Half of the joy of Christmas morning is getting to see them and spend time with them!

Base-Ology: What story are you trying to tell with your wardrobe?

Kennedy: The story I am trying to tell with my wardrobe is both girly and tomboy vibes with hints of vintage and beach feels.

B: How do you like to express yourself creatively?

K: Expressing my creativity comes throughout how I act and present myself along with the activities I'm affiliated with.

B: What item(s) of clothing can you not live without?

K: I can't live without a bathing suit and a comfy sweater.

B: Velvet or lace?

K: That's hard on because I love both, but I think I'm going to have to go with lace.

B: If you could write an ending to your story, what would you be wearing?

K: If I could write an ending to my story I would be wearing a comfy yet chic outfit.

B: If you could wear anything to a holiday party what would it be?

K: If I could wear anything to a holiday party it would be a good pair of thigh-high boots or heels with a shimmery thin strapped dress.

B: Where do you draw inspiration from?

K: My inspiration flows from people on social media and in magazines that I aspire to be like in the future.

B: What is your favorite holiday?

K: My favorite holiday is Christmas because of all the time you get to spend with family, and the final memories you get to make before the new year begins.

B: Tell us about a holiday tradition of yours.

K: A holiday tradition that my family and I do is that during Christmas time we make huge breakfast with Spanish food and snack all day long until we get to stuff or faces once more for dinner with another great meal.

Aleena & Crystal

Base-ology: What story are you trying to tell with your wardrobe? Crystal: I want people to see that whether I wear girls clothes or boys clothes, it doesn't matter, now a days gender shouldn't matter, I wear what I like and I gotta be comfortable. Aleena: Usually when I get dressed I think of my comfortability, lol. I become the clothes that I'm wearing whether it be my rain boots and thrifted jeans or a pair of fly Mami boots.

B: What item(s) of clothing can you not live without? C: I gotta have my jean jackets and my black high waisted Levi's, they're my go to jeans and I can look fly no matter what I put together with it. A: I can not live without a pair of comfortable jeans. I also just got into turtle necks and they give me life & I can't forget simple tops.

B: How do you like to express yourself creatively? C: I just recently got into photography, I mostly love minimal architecture, I think it represents simplicity so well. I do a lot of mixed media as well, I have a few zines out "Mouth full of Gold" is one of them and a few others, and I'll forever love sketching with ink, portraits are my favorite. A: I feel like in person I express myself pretty naturally already. So when I write or draw it becomes very personal.

B: Bra, bralette or neither? C: Neither, natural all the way! A: To be honest, neither... But if I have too bralette.

B: Velvet or lace? C: Hmm both have their qualities but I like lace a bit more... wait actually both are amazing haha, I got love for both. A: That's a hard one, but I prefer velvet.

B: If you could write an ending to your story, what would you be wearing? C: I'd want to wear a white t-shirt particularly an American apparel plain white t and a high waisted "flowy" skirt that women would wear in the 60s and some all white chucks. A: OMG, idk I would probably be wearing all white. That's fire.

B: If you could have grown up in any decade which would it be? C: Probably late 70s early 80s I like the rugged look but also the classy side of the 80s. A: I would have loved to experience the 60's!!! The high fashion culture was just so good.

B: Neutral with pops of color or color with subtle neutrals? C: Since simplicity is what I like I'd probably do neutral colors and a hint of color, I think it would be pleasing to the eye to see some color like as a necklace or scarf. A: Color with subtle neutrals for sure!

B: How would you describe your relationship with clothes/fashion? C: I love being able to dress up how I want, I'm a twin and for years my twin and I wore the same exact clothes and ever since I could choose what I want I just got really creative. It's how I express myself and who I am and it's an everyday thing. Fashion has been around for awhile now and I love that I can use past fashion as inspo and put some of my taste into it. A: I have a wonderful relationship with clothes. If I can describe it, it's like listening to your favorite song. Also love that I can always express myself.

B: Where do you draw inspiration from? C: My friends inspire me actually everyone has such different style and we all love fashion so that's where I get it from. A: People constantly inspire me, my friends my family even strangers.

B: How did you get into modeling? C: I got into modeling about a year ago and honestly I started working with this guy that hit me up on IG, he's a local artist here in San Diego and I really liked his style so I said 'why not'. Just by working in his studio was when I knew that I really wanted to do this. My family and people around me have always told me I should model I just never saw it until a bit later in my life and now I want to pursue modeling as far as I can take it. A: My godmother and her dad are photographers. I just remember always having cute little holiday photoshoots as little girls. In high school I worked with a few people here and there but I never took modeling serious until about a two years ago. I can genuinely say that I love it.

6:00 AM ... it's still dark

The sun is rising as she gets out of bed. She's still wearing her Anderson Tank, but it's chilly, so she slips on The NoHo Pullover and heads to the kitchen.

7:00 AM ... cappuccino in hand

It's a Sunday, but she's an early riser. She uses the morning to contemplate. She'll analyze her dreams and pick out her favorite quote for the day from her book of inspirational sayings.

11:00 AM ...

Wearing The Folsom Mock-Neck, The Blue Lake Denim & The Rosemead Scarf as a belt, she grabs her canvas bag & heads out the door. She's heading a few blocks down the street to her favorite farmers market to pick up some produce for the week.

The rest of her day will be spent living her daily quote. She'll dis-obey those fashion "rules" & wear white after Labor Day. She'll dance around her home in her underwear like she doesn't have a care in the world. She'll get so inspired by life, that she can't help but spend the rest of the evening sketching out brand new designs for her budding fashion line.
