just wanted to remind all of you:
- if you’re struggling to finish your bullet journals, missing spreads, finding it hard to accomplish everything set for the day, it’s okay - if you’re having troubles staying awake in class, getting to the gym every day, eating healthy, or going to bed on time, it’s okay - if you’re having difficulty keeping up with your classes, missing out on homework, feeling exhausted before the day is over, it’s okay - if you’re dealing with mental illness and can make it out of bed but can’t make it to class, it’s okay - if your handwriting isn’t the greatest and your notes aren’t up to the “aesthetic”, it’s okay - if you’re not getting straight a’s, it’s okay - if you’re not number one in your class, it’s okay - if you’re not sure what you want to major in, what classes to take, what you want to do after schooling, it’s okay - if you’re worried about public speaking, dealing with social anxiety, stressed about participation grades, it’s okay - if you’re having problems in a class whilst all your friends are succeeding, it’s okay - if you’re struggling but still trying, it’s okay - if you’re struggling and feel like giving up, it’s okay - if you’re struggling and not sure what to do, it’s okay
you will be okay. you will find a job, you will pass the class, you will become successful, you will make your parents proud, you will prove them wrong, and you will be okay. 🌿
Y'all I have a German test on Monday and I am c o n c e r n e d
I find that if I understand the methods of practitioners, I am better able to put it into practice. So ideally I'd like a textbook that is part theory and part practical - if that exists! I've studied Constatin Stanislavski and Antonin Artaud - but thats about it. I'm looking to broaden my perspective of practitioners and drama history!
Grotowski is interesting. It's very physical. His book is Poor Theatre, definitely worth a read. If you'd like I can send you my syllabus from my Avant-Garde theatre class because it provides a really helpful run-down of theatre history. If you're interested in more modern concepts and groups like site-specific theatre or stuff like Gob Squad I can also send you my stuff from my Site-Specific theatre class. I found it really interesting and very helpful for contemporary theatre history.
Hello!! I'm a drama student from England and I was wondering do you have any text book recommendations for a fellow drama student? ( I also have a studyblr allistudyfor , It's not picture perfect, but its new and I'd really appreciate some study support! haha) xx
Hi! Thanks for asking! And no worries about your studyblr not being picture perfect. My blog and my study habits are FAR from perfect I can assure you. As for textbooks, it’s kind of difficult to say and really depends on what you’re studying. My first year we had a class called Intro to Theatre Production and the textbooks were really helpful at condensing thousands of years of theatrical practice into something relatively manageable. Then there are the volumes that have more to deal with texts and performances that were going on. Then there are the more academic texts that look to break down concepts of different movements. And then of course books about acting and different techniques. If you tell me what your interests are, I’d be able to be a bit more specific. Are you interested in theatre from a practical standpoint or a more academic one? Or both?
4/23/17 4:34 pm || Re-writing German notes and typing German Theatre notes. I'm not exciting to find out what I made on the last test but that's okay! I'm here to study theatre and I have to focus on that. I just wish I had more time to study German because I really enjoy learning it.

I have been setting myself some pretty high note taking standards this year
I was one point away from an A on my first German test WHY

Studying is not always cute. Sometimes studying is sitting hunched over a black-bound library book in the complete darkness of your dorm room. It’s silent except for the monotonous hum of the mini-fridge in the corner behind you. Your notes are all over the floor. You have seven Wikipedia articles open. You don’t know what to write. You are all alone.
I can’t speak for the rest of the studyblr community, but in my personal experience, results don’t come from immaculate notes or fancy bullet journals or aesthetic coffeehouse trips. Results come from ugly, lonely work.
it baffles me that theres people who can just… just sit down and take out their homework and be like “time to work yes” and actually…get things done???? without a problem??? and move on?????? thats wild
How to know I really don't want to do homework:
