New Kid Loco 12" out today on Bastard Jazz

This little 12" beauty dropped today on Bastard Jazz and I'm excited to to have released it, as I've been a fan of Kid Loco's for well over a decade and it was a pleasure to curate these remixes from some of my favorite producers from around the globe.

A real journeyman of styles and scenes, French producer Kid Loco's chilled and exotica-laced nu-jazz gets a makeover from three different sources on these new remixes of "My Daddy Waza". While Ezequiei Lodeiros Latinazo brings an uptempo samba-jazz feel to his very live makeover, Suonho couched Loco's original in more studio-based funk for his more housey excursion. The most radical mix though comes in the form of the excellent, slo-mo disco rerub from Greenwood Rhythm Coalition, which gets delightfully deep thanks to some bassy pads and soft vocal loops.

You know you're getting old and crotchety when you get more excited about playing Jazz Records with your friends at a fancy Cocktail Bar from 8 to Midnight than most other gigs you've had over the course of the last 3-4 months. 

That being said, I'm excited for tonight at Tribeca cocktail den bFlat - a Japanese Jazz bar staffed by ex-Angel's Share alumn (so you KNOW the drinks are quality) - I'll be playing Classic Jazz, Hard Bop, Free, Fusion, Cool, Vocal and more alongside my friends Scotch Tape and Yellowtail...All vinyl!

Excited about this package of Captain Planet remixes that dropped on Bastard Jazz 12" and digi-EP today. Big remixes by the Cap'n for Los Chicharrons & Chip Wickham, with re-flips on the B-side from CP, Chris Read, and Aphrololo (our remix contest winner!) - a couple of bonus cuts on the digital release include our two remix contest runners up Lil' Dave and PDF, as well as our own Erik the Red bringing in the dancehall business.
