her heart stumbled clumsily over a few beats when ian once more took her hand in his. she had to remind herself over and over again that it meant absolutely nothing to keep her heart from stopping altogether. her fingers gently squeezed his of their own volition, and she could feel her ears beginning to turn red upon hearing kyle’s smug chuckle. “oh, c’mon, you know that sky was pink, don’t bring this up again.” alex rolled her eyes at ian, nearly having forgotten that sunset they’d bickered over only a few short years ago. just like back then, the sky was tinged a hazy rose to match the soft blush upon her cheeks.
only when will returned with the keys to their rooms did alex notice that their count seemed to be off. of course each couple would share a room for the first couple of nights they were here, but it seemed as if there was only one key card left over for both ian and her. she didn’t know what she’d expected, but for some reason she hadn’t thought through how it fiscally seemed to make sense that the two of them would share a room. it would’ve been exorbitant to get separate rooms but alex at the very least hoped they were two separate beds.
“i know that it was one hundred percent yellow,” ian nodded with a grin, butterflies going crazy in his tummy at the sight of her blush and when she squeezed his hand. it was another of these moments where ian completly forgot that they weren’t alone, and another time he could see himself leaning down to kiss alex, hopefully make her blush even more and at the thought of it all ian had to look away, feeling his own blush creep up his neck.
he looked up when will came back with the keys in hand, giving each pair their own and his heart dropped when henoticed there was only one left for both alex and him. one look at kyle and he knew that it was definitely not a mistake, and judging by the fake innocent smile on his best friends’ lips he didn’t bother booking a room with two beds, and was very proud of himself for that too.
he wasn’t sure what to say, he could offer to have nadya switch with him so she and alex could share a room and kyle and himself, but he also didn’t want to make alex think that he didn’t want to share rooms with her for whatever reason. “uh, i’m sure there’s two beds?” ian said slowly, kyle’s snort from the back only confiming his earlier thought that there definitly was only one bed.
