Your Toku Fave is a Trans Man: Inui Takumi
Submission:
Trans Man
Takumi's story can very easily be read as a trans allegory in general (or other flavors of queer as well): you are something and you are afraid to be that something so you keep it buried and hidden until you can't, and now everyone knows, and people are attacking you for being the thing that you just are while saying that your life has no meaning. Very queer allegory!
However, I read Takumi as specifically transmasc because 1, wolves are very transmasc, and more importantly 2, Takumi's experience after being "outed" as an orphenoch was to have everyone he cared about suddenly act as though he'd betrayed them, which is an experience that transmascs can easily relate to. Many a transmasc has come out only to have the feminists they were fighting alongside suddenly treat them as a traitor and untrustworthy for their manhood/masculinity in just the same way that Kusaka treated Takumi. Likewise, Takumi not wanting to be an orphenoch because he felt that it made him a danger is also reflected in the way many trans men and mascs struggle to come to terms with their manhood/masculinity because they've been taught that men are inherently evil and untrustworthy.
