A modern day master piece.
Unleash 2016
Step right up step right up, everyone’s a winner is the cry from the carnie folk that run the Trade circus.
Yep trade time’s upon us and the clubs have some death defying acts that distinguishes them from the $2 shops nestled in on our main strips.
Players are on display as the clubs bare their pubes like Bill wearing his skin suit and his genitals stuffed between his legs for that spew in the mouth 30 seconds in silence of the lambs.
For the next two months the clubs flick players from their list like an unwanted crusty. Some are released from the ball and chain contract and are forced squeeze their cleavage together in an attempt to attract other suitors like dollar bills to their GStrings. Then there are lucky few are called out to have their balls tickled in a snatch and grab raid to join another club and with more money and untold oppurtunity that hopefully ends on a road covered in silverwear. Clubs are exposed like the red light district and every team’s supporters are hoping to get a small glimpse into the future of their clubs fate like Sharon stone uncrossing her legs.
Yet as the players are released into the wild and told not to fuck up “too” bad, on their time away, the trade ringmasters have been feverishly working behind the scenes and following up on whispers, rumours and trying to sniff out of the panties hanging on another club’s hill hoist.
This year so far is a promising sign that even some presidents have had their own mad Monday ipreviously in the year. They were told to chug, snort and fire up a dwarf by their mates to do “dumb shit” by sacking their coach at this time. Thank god the trigger was pulled earlier in the year unlike last year where a few poor souls were seen kicking a can on their way out. This year every club is primed and ready to go in the trade period like an 18 year old walking into their first strip club.
So now the circus tent has been set up and the tickets sold for an opening tomorrow and Monday where the main attractions in Dangerfield and Treloar are ready to go with the supporting acts ready to entertain for the rest of the month.
These acts consist of the acrobat recruiters are ready to swing through the air waves while we are stuffing our cotton candy media mouths and ramming handfuls of pop corn in as well mid breath.
Get ready people because just like the red light district, the ride we are about to take it will leave us with something to scratch for the next 7 months
THE ESSENDON fan who gambled against Adelaide forward Eddie Betts kicking a goal has paid up.
Paul Dunn was sitting in the crowd as Betts lined up for a goal hard against the boundary in the club’s massive 112-point win over the Bombers last Saturday at Etihad Stadium.
Dunn called out to Betts, telling him there was a slab of bourbon and Cokes on the line.
The Crows’ sharpshooter coolly slotted the major – his 100th for the club – and turned to the Bombers’ fan with a smile spread wide across his face.
Who’s the Flog wearing white Sunnies?
We were driving back from a wedding and naturally had to get gas off the Geelong bypass. Naturally when you fill up, you have that time to have a Rubber neck.
A dark magenta mustang around 68/69, parked in the car park in front of the roadhouse store. I want to say it was a “fast back” Mustang but my attention was also drawn to the driver.
At what age can someone keep wearing white sunnies and driving that piece of sexy machinery where it was more synonymous with the commodore and the white Oakleys back when we first got our licenses.
The door swung open and low and behold it wasn’t a cougar but a gentleman who was looking like he flicked a couple of whiskeys or ten down his throat the night previously.
But I you can always recognise a shrivelled up body with a plastic head.
Tonight that same man was on regular weekly show where he emphatically delivered a rant whereby he literally pulled out a sand wedge and neatly delivered an opinion to an overly painful topic and placed the ball 20cm neatly near the hole.
Yes I am giving giving props to a man that isn’t afraid to say what it is and no hell hasn’t frozen over.
Again our friendly neighbour hood hyenas have ridden a topic like a whore’s daily at 4:30. The media have blown out of proportion an issue and given a drama queen the go ahead and deliver a bad version of the ‘Black Swan’.
No I didn’t refer to you as a black swan get a grip.
Our host stepped up to the green and “putted” an opinion that delivered the irony in the farcical situation. He articulated the media blew up with an irrelevant fact and our thespian actor took the bait that would make Kuttafurra lures proud.
But from an old 300 gamer the statement was delivered perfectly, and poetically with a finishing line of “you should of just played this week and got on with it and its not about you"
Bang! Thank you.
The joker was right, you plant a few bombs around town and wastebook goes crazy. The media just zorro’d us by fuelling the train wrecks fire by propagating a racist undertone…..Again.
You wanted the limelight, you just got to take the good with the bad and sprinkle it with the ugly.
What was ugly really was seeing a 70 year old man getting out of his muscle car with white sunglasses on.
I opened the door to grab the wallet and my girl said.“What’s with the flog and his white sunnies?”
Sam Newman I replied.
“You might want to tell him his old P plates snap chatted him earlier and they want their white eye jackets back.”
Let me open with I am not going to justify how long I have had the colours of Punt rd coursing through my veins. Its not U/ 15’s and we are not comparing how many pubes we have or how strong and mighty they are. Lets Just say I am old enough to have witnessed how the mighty have fallen through dark times of rattling tins and giving my weekly footy card money to the team I love in a bid to not merge or disappear. Long enough to witness rebuilds built with straw, sticks and eventually the smart piggy gave us bricks. Failed attempts that would crush a premiership coach, even one from another club Hawthorne and a ex champion of the club that has now found his glory at a local top rating radio station. These attempt have crush many a man’s spirit and decimated the underflowing river that our cherished clubs thrive on, money. Over the last 35 years we as fans have watched our club die in the trenches like wave after way of young boys jumping over the trench walls and meeting their fate at the hands of the Turkish machine gun.
One battle that comes to mind was the false hope that was a full Back from St.Kilda in his first coaching stint. Not only witnessing these battles that lasted 22 weekends a of my year but also in the after hours where I would see my so-called heroes indulging in extra recreational activities, lets just say and going on a high for the rest of the weekend, or until there was another training session the next week.
For the First time in my life I can say we have a group of players that now would make John Northey proud. For his was the one leader in our match stick rebuilds that defied a situation and galvanised a group, only to be cut down at the knees at the end. This group have filtered through the sticks of the last 10 years to look each other in the eye a say its our time.
But here lies my point. The architects of the failed rebuilds are hanging around like a fart in an elevator in an act of bitterness that stains their throats. The list is growing from a failed coach that brought nothing new from an old game plan that couldn’t be re-invented only to get painted over with a fake sun tan and excuses. To another that took over the accredited Judge and Jury of our game only to use his powers to influence his bitterness by telling his minions to strip any one wearing the yellow sash of any ball winning stats and make their lives misery by just running out. To finally a so called expert that as the IQ of the plastic that makes a chess piece and not so much the name that entitles particular crowning piece.
Time and time again, 2 thirds of the 67,000 are reminded of these cowboy builders by the words that still to this day have promised yet yield no substance. Just yesterday, the plastic chess piece King has wrote an article that not only contradicts itself but makes no sense at all and leaves you wanting those five minutes of your life back. Sorry to say that he didn’t have anyone next to him to copy off and has let himself down again by even putting pen to paper.
Now finally we have a team that took all those wooden spoons and constructed the framework to an Ethihad sized oval and a state of the art facility that great teams crave. Now there is a leader there too that only asks for forgiveness from us in saying we are still growing as a group and will make mistakes. A group that our number one player said to the club I will only re-sign if you re-sign our Lt in Hardwick.
The bitterness displayed now is just jealousy of a sleeping giant building in the trenches. The Giant that holds the so called best backman in the league and the best theme song that still leaves a bad taste from the fat kids of the past not allowed in the milk bar . We have risen from ashes from the sticks of yesterday and our fire hasn’t begun to roar while the twits still pick their nose and wipe their snot on us with little whimpers called articles and radio. Sorry guys, you had the tools your just never had the blue prints or the bricks we just have to see the snot stains on our walls.
I wanna shoot you so bad
There is always a time when a line gets thrown out to you from a movie from back in the day at a time when this movie was the 'fo shizel'. The movie had ice T in it when he was first got into the acting thing, New jack city, and he is at standing over Wesley, The bad drug dealer, the black chuck Norris after he beat the crap out of him and and has the csyco cop thing going but then let's rip of oh yeah bitch...... I wanna shoot you so bad my ***** hard. ..... The kinda line that made you realise why it was the Village blockbuster back in the day. As Richmond lost a game with an half assed attempt of a lead by Lambert and Houli desperately hoping he'd commit to it and save both their backsides. Now we all know what happened after that. Even the sherminator got in on the act and through a tanty that would make Snookie from Greasy sure raise an eyebrow. Google her.
Now I am a firm believer that the Hawks are weary of us and there would be nervous chatter for Friday night. Or they could be the ultimate professionals and not give a hoot about what Punt rd are doing.
But one thing I know is this. Hardwick has got the boys pumped and primed. Maric is chomping at the bits to play them and so are the others. Lamberts gaining confidence as he plays. If Knights can get on the park we could have an X factor for the run home. Nether the less we will be running out to play next week and without Titch and we win. Well I know what else will be firm as we play out the regular season and a certain Reece Conca is nearly fit again.
Thank god for replays otherwise I'd behind in payments for that milf xxxxx site. Am I wrong?
What better way then to white Knuckle honour
An Open Letter To Mick
I remember walking into my sisters room looking for the the Sanyo tape recorder only to catch her trying to get "oh mickey your so pretty can't you understand you……”
Just like every kid back then, we were in the bootleg music game, just our "pause" skills weren't up to scratch as yet. In that small screechy moment I caught that song and it sticks like the plastic off your cigarette pack. But all the one hit wonders throughout our illustrious careers they get tossed aside like a used Ansell wrapper.
Suddenly I hear that faint chorus again in the form a Mickey Malthouse kicking the press' saloon doors gritting a toothpick an nudging toward a vacant coaching job. Mickey, mate. Come on son. Leran how to take a selfie like regular narcissists.
Watching you in your time at Carlton had me saying where have I seen this before? Ah yes it was the when a tanning salon was installed at Punt Road. The 80's called and they want their soundtrack back.
Now Knackers I know that you are a legend. Even more to the point a Yellow and Black Legend. Anyone that can blow dry their pubes in the RFC, well that's respect and a pint of draft tilted in respect.
The facts are though legend, The game is past you. Just enjoy maybe a small media role. And watch you get old like Loui. There's new wolves circling the coaching ranks mate and they smell blood. Pardon the pun May he rest in peace. You can't tell me Beveridge and Richardson are wrong and showing young coaches are the key can you?
Gracefully is the word association of the day. Take the darl out and ’neck' a jäger bomb or three. You might get a tap out the shoulder. Just let the coaching thing go, just let it go bud. Let sleeping dogs lie.
Just take comfort that you have to suffer the same fate as all of us and basically imagine Bruce is his short Asian gown dripping baby oil on himself calling out Cyril's name. The peg goes on and twists letting out a Fyfe yelp.
Deal with that visual Mick.
WALK OF SHAME
Step right up step right up, everyone’s a winner is the cry from the carnie folk that run the Trade circus.
Players are on display as the AFL beast bares it’s business soul like Bill wearing his skin suit and his genitals stuffed between his legs for that spew in the mouth two minutes, silence of the lambs.
For the next two months AFL clubs pick players from their list and flick them away like an unwanted crusty. Others are released from the ball and chain called contract and squeeze their cleavage together and attract the dollar bills to their GStrings in hope to find the highest bidder. Finally the lucky few are called out to have their balls tickled in an attempt to join another club and ditch the development that made them who they are today.
Yep trade times upon us and the clubs have some death defying acts that distinguishes them from cattle trades in our sunburnt country towns.
Clubs are exposed like the red light district and every teams supporters are hoping to get a small glimpse into the future of their clubs fate like Sharon stone uncrossing her legs.
Yet as the players are released into the wild and told not to fuck up “too” bad, we get a sense that even some presidents have their own mad Monday in a sense. Just like the essentials of mad Monday, the clubs heirachy are teased and coxed by their mates to “do it” and in that one act of brass balls they sack their coach. One tequila to many?
As the club's boards react as if tea bagging their past out bloke on the couch, coaches get the “look after yourself mate” slap on the back while they clean their old sanctuary out in a knee jerked decision to bring in a new bloke.
Without solidifying the new coach and listening to what the professional bullshit artists print media airwaves, these presidents are beer goggled into a decision that looks similar to a driver trying to dodge a booze bus.
Never the less two clubs have been left embarrassed by now seeing the grass on the other side and mistakingly stepped right into the freshly warm patty because the two chicks at the end of the bar rolled their eyes and went to other clubs.
What we are left with are one club being told, not tonight I’ve got my period and the other club being caught with a box of tissues and a playboy boy in there ‘quiet time’ look on their face. Why? Because their assumptions have went off like a virgin on his first experience.
Sadly all we see now are the presidents who made these decisions holding their heels and walking barefooted in the disheveled walk of shame.

The Beast Within
As I walked into the Cora Lynn change rooms to see all my team mates talking shit and slapping asses as footy players do, I felt a sense of pride knowing that this wasn't another game that we would travel all over Gippsland after Ren and Stimpy cartoons and rice bubbles.......preparations of a finely tuned athlete @ 16.
But this time was different, there was an air of the "big dance" flowing into those single brick, urine slash liniment oil smelling rooms. We made it to the grand final. A feat that only a select few will ever feel. You are constantly reminded by the volunteers that give up their saturdays to rub you down and stick tape on your ankles. The bloody Grand Final. The last Blue light Disco of the calendar year. The Big one. But its not the same excitement as the disco, where you might touch a boob or even get stinky finger. This disco is different. This Dance you are partnered by a shadow called nerves. This disco will pop up in your dreams for the rest of your life.
As the best day rolls out, for the male species on that one Saturday in September, where we have a "f*#k up" pass from the missus, my mind always takes me back to that burning feeling in my gut that I had when walking into that corrugated ironed, single bricked style club room. The same feeling that these 44 professionals that walk inconspicuously underground into the tripled bricked rooms so sophisticated that is the envy of sportspeople around the globe. This burning feeling is not quite the same as when your sixteen and your proudly telling all your mates how many pubes you have (as your putting on those wetsuit under shorts) With todays Athlete, it is a far different burning feeling that the big boys have. They have a growl. A rapid animal on a chain in their guts.
As the Siren sounds and the first bone crunching sounds hit the TV speakers from 20 million dollars worth of talent, the beer gets spilled, the sausages get squeezed out of their bread holders and dammit its on. The Big dance is underway and your standing with your mates taking it all in. You look around the room the are females stop their chatter to see their Boyfriends erections chub their jeans because that one day in September has begun.
As the first five minutes quickly get lost in the first quarter and the siren sounds to send that teams into their first huddle, all the excited male species move out for a ciggie and a re-cap of what they just saw. As all eyes are fixated on the "cyril centre of attention", my eyes slowly disengage from the speaker to graze ove the attentive faces. This is when my pupils come to a stop and study that look of nostalgia in the eyes of one. That look of being taken back to being a skinny sixteen year old hero that could use gel to keep in place those long gone locks that would get a boob touch after the game.
This look is easy to spot. The glazed over eyes, the look of distain at the one "cyril centre of attention" bragging about his footy days but looking right through them at the same time. Clearly accompanied by that third beer deep, balding, tight shirt wearing guy at the GF bbq. That look is of a late thirties something male that now still has the burning feeling brewing in the pit of his stomach. This is a look of a ex teenage footy star that wishes he could turn the clock back and thumb a ride back to those glory days. Before you is the look of a yesterday hero who wished he was Superman and fly so fast around the Earth's atmosphere to rewind the clock and win a Grand Final.
They are at every BBQ around Australia on that one day in September silently reminiscing while fixated on the screen. They are the ones trying to take that drunk screamer at the half time kick with the boys. They are the ones drilling that pass at the group who want it kicked high instead. Or calling out nicknames on a lead while losing his Haviannas on a lead.
As the game finishes and the medals are handed out and the BBQ group tends to wither away, there is that same guy slouched in the chair half asleep with glazed eyes still fixated on the TV asking whoever walking past to grab him a beer in the esky outside. That beast inside now just drowning in whatever he could get his hands on during the day. The beast is just too drunk to stand inside the gut anymore and floating on a lie-lo on top of the cocktail of stolen esky liquid.
As I walked back through the cheering crowd into those Urine smelling rooms as the final siren went, I now could see the looks of despair, the looks of hurt and the tear covered faces of my teamates. I knew that the beast within was quiet. I knew he retreated into the shadows. Funningly enough I would feel him again one day. That one day becomes everyday as the beast within is always stalking that elusive victory.
One day I shall unleash him. One day I will have my Victory and he can run free from his chains and Bruce Springsteen can soundtrack some new glory days for me.
