good afternoon to biblically accurate Buck-Diaz .
i hate his ass
I really loved this bit
The disease, which is treatable with a vaccination, broke out at an Amazon warehouse, the company confirmed
Not that "Victorian disease" is any less ominous, let's be real...
Ah, yes, a "Victorian disease" because that was the last time it was killing Londoners at the same rate as Southeast Asian people this very day :) totally not a white supremacist thing or anything, we just only care about diseas when it can potentially effect mostly white people :)
Tom Holland's acting is so fucking good. He's really honed his craft over the last few years. Especially his NYC accent. It was really authentic particularly when he was talking to Frank. It's like he code switched and slipped into the accent even more like one does when they meet a close friend from their native town. Like so well done.
what absolutely makes the end of brand new day for me, with ned remembering and recognizing peter, is that … it’s so in character. like jean says it earlier, mj would be sick at the idea of a perfect fairytale kiss waking the princess up ooh so cute BLEGH!! she would hate that. ned, on the other hand? ned would LOVE the idea that they broke the spell and got his memories back by doing their super special best friend handshake, ned would love the whole fairytale magical remembering thing, he would just be all over that.
hi i rly liked brand new day
That's how the scene went, right?
there’s just something so lovely about how a passionate kiss wasn’t enough to jog mj’s memories, but peter and ned’s secret handshake was more than enough for ned to start remembering, everybody say thank you to destin daniel cretton for showing that platonic love matters just as much and can also break any spell
I love how in Daredevil, Frank Castle is like this intimidating guy who's a well matched threat to the hero but in Spiderman he's still the same character but Peter just... does not treat him with the same amount of gravity. He webs Frank's mouth shut for swearing and tells him to go home after breaking his van. He argues with the man who's whole deal is he has a lot of weapons and WILL use them like two New Yorkers who got into a fender bender. Peter Parker and Frank Castle see each other coming and they both go "This fucking guy again." I love it.
the theme of spiderman: brand new day being about non romantic love!! the ongoing throughline being that peter needs to not be so alone, that he needs friends. the way jean's story was about her sister. the way frank cried for peter, was soft with him like that, apologised like that because he cared about peter. the way mj's boyfriend doesn't matter at all because what matters is that she's ned's friend. the way the first person who remembered peter was his best friend, his oldest friend because of their special handshake. the way peter being bruce's friend was enough to snap him back from being hulk. the way peter being jean's friend so that she's not so alone is the entire reason we have an ending as happy as we do.
the way these non-romantic relationships are so important to the story.
frank having an open flap on the windshield of his truck is killing me. this man really got a custom made windshield to make it easier to shoot people while driving 😭
congratulations to matt murdock for being the subject of the two best tweets ever written about a comic book character by their own editor/writer. king shit
“Why are you watching it again? You already know what happens.” Because The Character is in there, bro. THE CHARACTER
"spiderman brand new day has a good plot"
looks inside plot
''there is no righteousness in suffering alone and isolating yourself from everything is never the answer because you'll eventually start to lose sense of who you are as you spiral further into depression and suicidal ideation this is why you need to let people help you and allow yourself to believe in a better future even if it feels impossible at times''
well shit. it does have a good plot
edit: yes i know this is the theme not the plot. i wrote plot, you still get the point. deal with it
I keep seeing people saying that peter and frank have a "father/son dynamic" or a "uncle/nephew dynamic" but you are all wrong. They have the dynamic of the older coworker that you are way to close with when you're in your 20s. We've all had that coworker. Thats your best friend kinda. But it only works in a work setting
