Anyways I’m not getting my hopes up, I’m just hoping it was at least a little head nod to those of us who have our theories about Ben and the butterflies. While I’m here. At this point Lucas films has given me no choice but to believe Ben is somewhere in the world between worlds because they again did not show him as a force ghost.

Also I liked the holiday special, like I said it was chaotic but honestly that sounds about right. I didn’t expect them to even give us a hint of something Reylo related so thank you legos.

How is it that the Star Wars LEGOS holiday special had more closure for Rey and her loss of Ben than TROS. That was painful but more healing than TROS will ever be.

Also the Holiday Special was Chaotic.

I’m just going to come out of the shadows real quick and say this.

If you read John Boyegas interview and are using it as fire to attack a ship, fictional characters, or actors, then you missed the point of the interview.

If you read the interview suddenly feel the need to defend yourself, or your ship because you ship two white characters, or defend actors you like, or a movie you like, then you missed the point of his interview.

John does not expose the people he worked with, he does not say they did something wrong, but he does say they had a different experience than him, that the people part of making the films had it planned out for certain characters, while many of the POC cast saw their characters get sidelined.

To quote part of a tweet he just put out “These conversations and me sharing isn’t about a witch hunt. It’s about clarity to an anger that can be seen as selfish, disruptive and self indulgent. Obviously in hopes of better change.”

Does this mean you should hate Disney, or hate Star Wars? No, but if you love these franchises then you should expect better from them. You should never lower your expectations for things that you love, you should be raising the bar. He never says you should hate a franchise, hate a director, or hate a movie.

We should be asking for better representation in the Star Wars universe, as we should in any other franchise or any film/tv show. POC actors should never be used as tokenism as they have been in the past. This is the conversation we should be having, not debating whether a ship is racist or not.

But let’s talk about racism in the fandom, because it does exist, there are people who are racist and homophobic and so many other horrible things. If you see anyone exhibiting such disgusting behavior report them, block them, call them out if you want. That shit does not fly with me and it should not fly with you.

I’m leaving the link to his article for all of you to read in full, its better for you to read than for me to just quote things. And I would much rather hear it come from him than from me or anyone else who has not experienced everything that he has.

So let’s just say that ending was not the actual ending, that Ben dying was just a glimpse into the future, and they had a chance to change that, with the help of some force ghost that we all know and love, and what transpires from then after the finale battle.

Hey friends,

Firstly, May the fourth be with you, and happy revenge of the fifth! I’m finishing up a Reylo fix it fic so look for that today.

Now I’ve blocked many, many antis or anyone who displays unacceptable behavior on this site. So I don’t always know if people are posting things in the Reylo tag that shouldn’t be there and are attacking this specific group. But if there is, please ignore and block them. Remember others cannot tell you what you can and cannot ship. I know I don’t always agree on people’s ships, but I would never someone that they are wrong, or because I don’t like that ship it makes them a bad person. Can we all agree that that makes no sense! Just seriously stop hating other people’s ships, that just goes for everyone, got it, good!

Moving on. I know a lot of us are cooped up in our houses, and while this two day Star Wars holiday is almost over, we all have a lot of time on our hands. If you need a distraction or if you need some escapism and haven’t delved far into the Star Wars universe I highly recommend it. I know many of us detest what TROS has done to the Skywalker saga (and if you don’t that is ok too), but I can say after rewatching the prequel and originals yesterday, crying over the Clone Wars finale today and even watching TFA and TLJ today Star Wars is not ruined for me because of one movie and I never want it to be ruined for anyone else. There truly is a place for anyone in this universe and I hate to see when people try to discourage anyone thinking they don’t belong here. Gender, race, age, sexuality, none of that should ever dictate who should be allowed to love this wonderful universe.

So with that all said, may the force be with you!

Shortly after seeing The Rise of Skywalker,  I was expressing my feelings about Ben’s death and my mom asked me, “You didn’t expect him to live did you?” YES. Yes, I did! That’s just it! And I’m not alone. You talk to anyone who’s familiar with story telling, who’s studied the art of writing,  and they will tell you the same thing. Because from the beginning the clues were all there for Ben’s story to end happily for him. You just have to know where to look.

Pulling a switch like this on your audience, isn’t good story telling. It’s deceiving your audience and there is no faster way to get the audience to turn on you than to lie to them. The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, and even most of The Rise of Skywalker, were written to give us a happy ending for Ben Solo and then at the last moment, TROS pulled the rug out from under us and left him for dead. 

It bugs me when people act like we should have seen his death coming, that it was inevitable when all the evidence points to the contrary. The story itself was telling us Ben was meant to live, not died and then be promptly forgotten. 

I’m sure others, like @magpie-trove, can explain it better, but I really do believe with all my heart Ben was meant to live.

This literally hits the nail on the head, and this is why I still continue to express my disappointment in TROS. I think even the people who wanted to see Ben die were not seeing that coming, I think many saw where things were going which made them more upset because they could see Bens redemption on the horizon, they saw this character that they did not like surviving in the end. While I think the writing of TROS is pretty crappy in my opinion, even as you watch the movie you get the sense that he’s still suppose to live. So many people that I’ve discussed it with, my friends, coworkers, even stepsister, agrees that, that was not how Ben Solos story is suppose to end. And still after being betrayed I still would let them fix this wrong and tell us there’s a way to bring him back.

I’M NOT SOBBING, YOU ARE! Sorry, but I kept seeing all these quotes from the TROS novelization that gave me all the feels cause HE LOVES HER SO MUCH and I just wanted to use them in a video.

Quotes from the novel I used for anyone who wants them:

I watched The Dead Don’t Die the other night and well…there’s one scene that happens that I couldn’t help but feel it connect with my feelings towards TROS. So please, enjoy.

Ooooooooh I have so many words to be said!

Part of me does not want to buy the book because I have a bad feeling about how they handle Kylo’s character, I’m very unsure of how I’m going to agree with this book as a whole. For the time being I cannot judge the book as a whole or give my opinion on it because I haven’t read enough it or seen enough yet, but let’s talk about the big topic.

Regarding how people are freaking over the kiss and certain “news” outlets are click baiting the hell out of it, calling it a “platonic” kiss. I’ve read actual quote from the book so imma put thst right here.

“And then, wonder of wonders, she leaned forward and kissed him. A kiss of gratitude, acknowledgement of their connection, celebration that they’d found each other at last.”

So now we are going to break this down, it’s back to English class kiddos! Now there is a little before the quote about Bens heart being full and Rey’s fingers on his cheek. I didn’t wanna do the full quote but that’s the summary of the before the kiss. Though this is third person, it focuses a lot of Bens perspective in this moment, and I like that we focused on what he was feeling considering this boy has been probably waiting for this since the moment he saw her and never thought it would happen. And we could stop here if I wanted to, I mean common they gave you the romantic sh*t right there, with his full heart and her fingers lingering on his cheek. But let’s keep going!

Now let’s focus on the quote itself.

“A kiss of gratitude,”

Gratitude:

The quality of being thankful; readiness to show an appreciation for and to return kindness.

Yes we all would like to hear “a kiss of love”, be the words. But first let’s be honest, (and I’m not specifically saying the author I’m just saying whoever it is who has final say on things) but I don’t think someone had the balls to make it more romantic sounding knowing they didn’t want to upset the fanboys. It was the safer route to take and so honestly fine…this is why I have fan fiction.

But gratitude does not equal platonic, you can love someone and be grateful. If you have a significant other and they do something for you and you’re grateful for it there’s a chance you might just kiss them to say thank you.

“acknowledgment of their connection,”

Acknowledgement:

Acceptance of the truth or exsistance of something.

With how I interpret this, there’s no greater way for Rey to acknowledge what is there, she accepts the truth of their connection both in the force and as how they feel for each other.

“celebration that they found each other.”

I was not going to define celebration but I can’t resist.

Celebration:

The action of marking one’s pleasure at an important event or occasion by engaging in enjoyable, typically social, activity.

I mean…common. Enjoyable (kissing is enjoyable), typically social (kissing can be with someone you are romantic with), activity (an activity you can do with someone you are being romantic with.)

And let’s not forgot that Rey verbally acknowledged that she wanted to take his hand in the thrown room and then later down the line KISSES HIM. If she had taken his hand in the thrown room they would have kissed right then and there. The kiss they do share is an acknowledgement that she felt for him what he felt for her. I’m not even digging for scraps at the bottom of the barrel here it’s just the facts. This book does not say that it’s a platonic kiss, shared between friends, the book says that the kiss is filled with gratitude, acknowledgement, and celebration. It was a kiss between two dyads in the force, two that are one that great a power that is as strong as life itself. A bond that connects two across time and space.

And I do think it’s important to address the word platonic. People are using to to discredit Reylo as romantic, and I wanna make this clear. Platonic refers to someone specifically as nonsexual, this can refer to a romantic relationship, platonic does not mean it can’t be a romantic relationship, but I think this word is being used to an extreme, saying it’s not romantic, it’s not love. The reality of the situation is that a romantic relationship can be sexual or not sexual. And I just wanted to clarify this word specifically because I have been justifying the fact that Ben and Rey have a romantic connection/relationship, but I did want to address that platonic does not imply something not being romantic.

I’m not justifying everything in this book, I have a feeling I’m going to disagree with some choices that are being made. But I personally don’t hate how the kiss is written given the fact that I don’t think we were going to see DLF actually go full blown Reylo in terms of trying to “fix” this movie. It’s them going well we’re not gonna explicitly take a side…so we’re gonna glaze over it and let people twist our words and think what they want. But I just don’t want anyone to let the clickbait get them because the truth is what is said in the book does not discredit the kiss, they’re relationship, or anything.

Also in regards of Rey hearing Ben in the force…

Rey hearing Ben say “I will always be with you.” And responding with, “No one’s ever really gone.”

It’s better than what the movie gave us, but also these lines should have been in the movie, plain and simple the audience should have heard that dialogue, and the novelation should have been able to build off that dialogue.

Does this dialogue confirm for me that Ben will forever be part of Rey’s life, reglarless of how the DFL handles it all from here? Absolutely!

Again, I don’t think I’m gonna agree with all everything in the novelization, I don’t agree with everything in TROS film so I wouldn’t expect myself to be agreeing with it all. And I still love Star Wars reglarless, but I still have issues with Ep. 9 and that’s fine, we’re all going to have different opinions.

In the end a ship is a ship. How one person wants to interpret things is a personal choice, I’m not going for force people ship anything I ship, whether it’s canon or not. Trust me I ship things that characters that never even got a kiss or a chance to be canon. That being Zuatara, Stormpilot, Johnlock, I’ve been there, I’ve been in that boat many times. And I do wish this fandom, the Star Wars fandom could be kinder about people’s ships. I wish news outlets didn’t use clickbait titles that rile of fans that do tend to be more extreme towards others in this fandom.
