Him (v/o): It can be difficult to read my wife sometimes. Pregnancy has caused her many mood swings and she can turn on a dime. But as time passes, I think I’ve gotten better at it. Mostly. Food tends to be a pacifier for her. I’d gone out earlier today to run some errands. She was sleeping—and I left her alone and let her sleep in—and of course she sent me a barrage of texts with things to pick up.

But I had a trick up my sleeve. The last stop was to the gelato store—this has been her #1 craving the past few weeks, rainbow gelato. I got her a big cup. I walked in the door to see her sitting on the couch watching TV. So I walked over and placed the cup of gelato on her belly. She smiled and clapped her hands, and gave me a big kiss.

“You’re a sweet man,” she said, “and I’ll give you your reward later. But first...gelato.”
