Rory McVicar - You Get What You Deserve

Last up on this stage for our 2016 Festival is the wonderful Rory McVicar. Now we’ve always seen Rory as a bit of a genius. Beautiful songs with a unique delivery. There’s lots more on the way after a break of a few years in recording - and that gave us the chance to invite him along to play at our The Cut gig a few months back. Now, he says it’s the only time you will see him with a band. Not sure about that - but certainly great treat for us all to witness it and glad we were there to film it.

We can’t keep saying one of our favourites, can we? Well perhaps we can. One of our favourites on the Norfolk scene these popsters make the kind of songs that every musical era needs - fun, catchy, brilliant riffs and great lyrics in their too. Lyrics that really tell the story of their generation. And this series of songs are from their The Cut gig at Open with us and Outline magazine. In fact there’s a few more from this set we’d like you to hear in the future. Keep your ears peeled for those!

Youth Killed It - You Don’t Know

It's a sign of an impressively good band when they just take control of the stage. Youth Killed It always play with an energy and swagger that an audience can't help get wrapped up in. This track is from their new album Welcome To The Sad Boy's Club. Hope you like the dark underground atmosphere - just adds to the intensity of it all eh! Teen Brains - Annabel

This is an oldie - but Teen Brains are on the march and recording and launching new work in the coming weeks - so we thought a bit or a reminder of their power and beauty would be good! Crammed into the BBC Radio Norfolk studios and drenched in orange light, the band powered through this classic of theirs, Annabel.

True Adventures - North Atlantic Ocean

True Adventures has a double billing today. Playing over on the main stage of our Online Music Festival, this is the track that marked out his songs as being somewhat special. It’s early in his career in this guise so we’re looking forward to hearing more in the coming months. This song was filmed during one of our BBC Introducing Takeover Days on Radio Norfolk.

Phoebe Troup - Sailor

We’ve been a bit tardy in getting to know Phoebe. From Colorado, over here studying at the UEA she’s been making music for a few years now but we only noticed her after recording Come Back, Deer Tick. We loved that track - and through our links wit BBC Introducing nationally got Phoebe a spot on the stage at Latitude. Radio 1 plays followed - and this track was recorded early one morning in our BBC studios as Phoebe entertained the breakfast listeners of BBC Radio Norfolk

Maya Law - At 16

Maya Law is sweeping all before her right now. Whether on her own playing acoustic - or collaborating with others. The voice and the sound and her whole prescence is making people take note. With Radio 1 plays already under her belt we are looking forward to what the Autumn will bring! In the meantime, we also have an older video of Maya performing her track Tough Luck for us on the BBC Introducing in Norfolk show.

Soham De - The Violins

It’s a double helping from young King’s Lynn performer Soham De. Building a reputation well beyond Norfolk now, with guest slots alongside Gabrielle Aplin, the soft tones and crisp guitar playing of Soham are winning hearts and minds wherever he goes. Luckily for us he pops by regularly on BBC Introducing to play a few new songs and tell us how things are going. These two songs were filmed as part of our BBC Introducing in Norfolk takeover Day.

Second song from George, filmed as part of his set with us for one of our BBC Introducing in Norfolk Takeover Days. A second song he performed for us, Nonetheless, can also be seen below - it was a bit too good to just let fall though the net, so see it as a bit of a bonus George!

George makes interesting and accomplished music for someone so young. Right now he's working away - but hopefully back soon to grace the stages of Norfolk with his guitar and loop pedals. These are songs you have to hear all the way through as you just want to know how the story ends. Always the sign of a good song writer to keep you listening in!

Back in 2013, George came into the BBC Introducing in Norfolk studio to perform his track Out of Love. This is such a lovely song and George brings out every feeling in a really good performance.

Dazy Crown - The Ruminations of Jeffrey Rider

Dazy Crown are in the process of writing new material - and if this track is anything to go by it's going to be really good! Quite another angle to their current sound as well. This song was recorded on a BBC Introducing in Norfolk Takeover Day on Radio Norfolk, down in our little basement apartment at The Forum in Norwich.

Secret From Richard - Feel My Fire

Secret From Richard played our gig The Cut a few months back and treated us to this track. At the time it was brand new and unreleased. Now it’s part of their set and as we could’ve guessed at the time, has become a bit of a classic for them. Looking forward to more Secret songs soon - enjoy this one though as part of our Festival!

Let's keep with the cool Sunday morning vibe but take it up a notch! This is the adorable Lobster filmed in session for one of our BBC Introducing Takeover days on Radio Norfolk. All we can say is - NO! Don't go! But sadly, yes, Lobster are unraveling the threads that have bound them into a fine Jazz combo over the last few years. Other duties call - but not before one last hurrah (and the many comeback tours to come of course!) If you want to see more of Lobster, we have another track from them right below!

Ok - so we're on Day 2 of our Festival - and it's a nice slow start for a Sunday morning with the amazing storytelling songs of Danny Whitehouse. One of the best and most underated talents around in our opinion. And a man with a new album of songs on the way. Great words as ever in this one from Danny - The Ballad of King John. Filmed on The Albatros in Wells

On the basis that you can never have too much of a good thing - we thought we would add another Danny track, recorded on the same day, up online too!

Echoes in the Well - Wedding Ring

Echoes in the Well is a band that may play together for only special occasions now - but their talents are undoubted at producing beautifully orchestrated folk with an often quirky twist. This session was filmed in the lovely St Stephens Church in Norwich when the band were showing us how they liked to perform in the round with an audience in the middle. Features the great voice of Danny Whitehouse who also has some videos up as part if our online music festival.
