bad news to everyone admonishing me for putting people's lives at risk by giving them money instead of food: there is no street drug more dangerous to homeless people's health than the idea that they don't deserve autonomy.

I check to see if they need clean needles, clean socks, alcohol pads for skin sterilisation, lighters, Narcan(if I have any in my truck), etc.

There's no harm reduction here(in my state) for those living with addiction, so it's up to us that actually see these people as People.

To make sure they're reminded that having these issues and living with them doesn't make them less deserving of respect and autonomy.
