“welcome!” aurora says in a cheery tone as always, hearing the little bell on the front door ring. although she’d been off her game, her daughter star was staying with a babysitter for the day, which meant she could tend to her bakery. one of her absolute favorite things to do. from the entrance the smell of the delicacies filled the store, pastries and sweets of all kinds lined up neatly. she’s too busy decorating a cake to look up at whoever’s just walked in, “how can i help you today?”

“it’s just me,” torrance echoed back, smiling as the warm air hit her, calming the shivers from the january air outside. the familiar scent of baked goods was comforting, chasing the cold from her bones as she unwrapped herself from her scarf and mittens. “i could definitely go for something sweet and hot, though.”

theo rolled his eyes, groaning as he moved towards torrance. he turned his head to the side, his damp hair sticking up in all directions. “but i wanna do better.” he squeezes her tightly, before dropping his arms. “everybody needs peter parker but nobody wants theo cannon. isn’t that funny?” he shakes his head, walking towards his bed and falling back onto his mattress.

“well, i’m always gonna need theo cannon to be around,” she murmured, letting herself bounce onto the bed next to him. she almost wanted to hand him back the bottle, if only to assuage the sad look on his face. instead, she poked his thigh. “hey. you do better everyday, tee. live and learn. now give me your phone.”

“so, i got off set and had to go straight to my rotations and, listen… i know that i should have expected this, but i was running around in sneakers and i slipped and hit my ass so fucking hard… literally, i probably have a huge bruise. pray for me.”

“i mean, at least you were already at the hospital so they could check and see if you had a bruised tailbone?” torrance offered the silver lining with a wincing smile. “that’s such a fucked workload though, i would be falling on my ass too.”

“okay, but.” belle laughed, head shaking. “when it comes to either being social or just staying home, nine times out of then i’m going to stay home!” she said, hands wrapping around the mug and bringing it to her lips.

“listen babes, you don’t have to tell me twice.” truthfully, she’d never been one for partying; that might have been why is seemed so appealing an escape when she’d needed one the year before. now? the mention of tequila shots made her toes curl. “give me my dogs, my cats, and my couch.”

theo stuck his tongue out rather comically. “i’m not gonna puke. c’mon, i’m a pro by now,” he said, though he knew that wasn’t exactly true. there would be an uneasiness in his stomach soon enough. he closed the door behind her and frowned when she started cleaning up. “hey ‘m not finished with those yet,” he argues lightly. he rolls his eyes, catching the sweatpants. “i never said you had to wear pants, you did that all on your own,” theo grumbled, but slid the pants on anyway. he walks over to her and wraps both arms around her. “i think people want to know what i’m thinkin’, don’t you?” 

she made a small, unconvinced sound in the back of her throat, continuing to straighten up the room around him, pointedly holding on to the liquor. “mmm, i think you are, buddy friend,” she shot back, dumping them into the plastic bag lining the otherwise empty trash bin by the patio door. “maybe when you’ve sobered up a little you can dip back in, but you’re definitely doing okay booze wise for the time being.” she leans back into the hug, because it’s theo, but it doesn’t make her relent. “oh, i’m sure -- but i can’t have you gone. i need my peter, y’know? and if you’re drunk on twitter that’s ammo against you. a dirty delete doesn’t fix it, but it’s better than just leaving it all up.”

“i mean, i’m always down for vacation time when imani will let us take it, but switzerland wouldn’t have been my first choice,” torrance admitted. “i need the sun, not more snow. the next time i have a couple days i’m heading down to santorini for sure.”

theo’s been having a bit of a week. whoever said switzerland would be peaceful was clearly on something. he spent most of the night, drinking and moping around his room. at one point, he took to twitter hoping to find some friends- or anyone, really. he’s been in the bathrub for awhile now and the water’s gone cold. it’s not fun anymore. at the sound of the knocking, he gets up and wraps a towel around his waist. theo opens the door and grins. “tori! what are you doin’ here?” he asks, leaning against the doorframe. 

her unimpressed expression might have been comical to a casual observer. unamused but still concerned, she rearranged her features into something more positive; a small, slightly accusatory smile. “i’m here to shove some carbs down your throat and hold you hair back when you puke,” she informed him lightly, pushing past him into the room and heading straight to his mini-bar, gathering the remaining bottles and half-empties. “if i have to be wearing pants for this, so do you,” torrance announced, grabbing the first pair of sweatpants she saw littered across the floor and tossing them in his direction. “also, give me your phone -- i’m deleting those drunk tweets. the last thing we need is imani getting on your ass for publicity reasons right now.” he had done these things for her time and time before; torrance was more than happy to do them for him now.

the walk from her room to theo’s is short, punctuated by the soft snap of her slippers against the hardwood of the empty hallway. room service had already been ordered; billed to her room, to be delivered to theo’s. it wasn’t unlike theo to get a little bit drunker than others. it was out of character for him to take to twitter and give the internet a play-by-play. given the weirdness of his week, torrance figured she had reason to be concerned as she rapped sharply on the heavy door, praying she wouldn’t have to call the front desk to break her into his room.

“you and your crazy acting job. this is why you should be a librarian, like me.” astrea grins, holding the other girl’s hand. she narrowed her eyes. “well, you know this isn’t my field of study but we can visit vindonissa or  mont-terri Castle.” she shook her head. “i think we’re good here. there’s a lot of roman history here.” 

“i know, i know -- but it’s not like my job has sent me to saudi arabia for a year like someone’s,” torrance accused, teasing the blonde and swinging their laced hands. “i love a good castle, and anything italian. which one would you rather visit, though?” either would interest torrance, but knowing astrea she’d have a preference.
