i moved bolin to a new blog. if mutuals from here are interested, like this and i will follow u from there. i will not be following everyone, but i’m doing my best to write with people who were interested in writing with me/building him more.

" i just wanted to make sure she was okay “ he whispers. there’s more he wants to say, so many things he wants to ask. how did you get me out? did you see what they did to shady shin? bolin can’t push his brother farther, he’s all he has. so he inhales as he eats his noodles, playing with pabu on the side. bolin looks up at his brother as he slides the bowl away. “ oh boy do i want to win the tournament now — I'm going to practice extra I promise ! maybe we can even ask korra to help, “ he’s hyper fixated on it, needing something to focus on.

       despite living just outside the city , ikki’s never experienced a PROPER carnival. her fingers are sticky from more food and candy than she’s allowed in an entire year , excited grin glued in place as the two walk down the street. ferris wheel ? rollercoaster ?? both are foreign concepts to the air bender.  ‘  i won’t tell my dad if you promise to take me next year too. what’s a rollercoaster ? did varrick invent it ?  ‘

       bolin’s eyes light up as the other asks her question. out of all of tenzin’s kids, he has to like ikki the most.  every visit to the island, they found things to do together, and this carnival was just the tip of the iceberg. korra had kindly managed to keep the other’s father busy tonight so that bolin could have his adventure ( responsible. bolin was responsible. right? )   ‘  we can go EVERY year!  ‘ bolin promised. ‘ it’s this MAGICAL thing that throws you in the air and goes SUPER SUPER fast and you think you’ll vomit but you won’t vomit I promise!   maybe ‘

Amon is familiar enough with Bolin from probending matches. Like his brother, he is a talented bender (Amon would know), but he can hear Bolin’s heart palpitating, his blood pumping. Amon is satisfied to know that this is fear. It is high time benders knew what nonbenders faced each day in their lives. And for now, this is enough; the Avatar and her friends will face their destiny soon, but not now. He will entertain Bolin for a time. He takes a step forward.

“Hated? Hatred is only borne out of misunderstanding,” Amon says. “I am certainly not hated by my followers. You choose to close your ears to that which challenges your comfortable norms. Does it trouble me that you and others like you hate me? Yes, it does. Does that surprise you? I am not a violent man, Bolin. I do not enjoy inflicting pain. If all the benders in the world would understand my message and embrace it, nothing would make me happier. However, reality is not so forgiving, so action must be taken.” 

      ’ you preach peace but you hurt benders. ‘  bolin points out, taking a step backwards. in his mind, he remembers korra’s words just relax, you just have to distract him. so bolin can’t be afraid, but he is. he’s terrified. “you’re leading an entire campaign against benders! my friends! the avatar! her entire being is to create peace. how can you be against her? against all benders?” bolin is shaking. it’s very rare that he feels so passionate, but he tries to understand. his own parents were killed my bender — his brother a bender, and himself a bender. they weren’t bad people. they just had to do what it takes to survive. “we don’t hate — we’re , “ he’s trying to backtrack his own words, but bolin is feeling losing it.   he’s not articulate like mako, he’s always been ditzy. “ we’re just trying to survive.”

    bolin shuffles, in his dream, he is back at home ( home. it’s been so long ) and he doesn’t want to wake up to reality. mako’s voice calls him back, as the young boy rubs his eyes, harsh sun pouring onto his face. he looks up at his older brother, still half asleep.  ❝ i'm still sleepy mako... ❞  he whines, but gets up, ready for another long day in republic city.   ❝  what do we have to do today?  ❞

anyway I was just watching season 1 episode 3 and boy do I have Thoughts. first, bolin always thinks the best of people, even when they are really awful ( ex: shady shin ) and he just jumps right into it. also specifically when he joins the triple threats again, he literally feels so helpless for never really carrying the weight of himself? bolin owes everything to mako, so when he tries to make some money for the tournament, he just wants to give back to mako ( he feels bad that mako is doing everything all the time and just wants to help )
