Eight | Huang Yi | Trial 3.1 | Re: Trial Start ; Sayuri ; Everyone
[ cw: melted skin mention ]
It was another abrupt awakening, filled with shouting that wasn’t suitable for such an early time. Much less at all, but he had to make do. Volume control on others were on them, and unfortunately, a mute button couldn’t be applied to people. What followed after was the discovery of two bodies. Fukuda and Aojima.
No matter. Regardless of whoever was deceased, an investigation was to be conducted. That was the rules laid out for them. It only made sense to listen. Even if their overseers were replaced, it didn’t change the fact that there were consequences to those who disobeyed. …Right?
Upon entering the conference room, paranoia creeped into his mind, especially with what Senketsu had announced. There was something waiting for them after they wrapped this trial up, but if only it could have been given now. Now they had to wait with bated breath. This punishment though…
“How suspicious that we must still vote for the culprit or, ah, culprits? According to Senketsu-san, there is no one willing to enforce the executions, so there would be nothing of that sort. It is a shame that our peers’ earlier deaths could have been avoided should this all occurred earlier. That said, Corsesca-san had stated that we are only holding a trial to determine who would need to clean the mess they had caused. That would be the supposed punishment. Is it merely myself that I consider it odd for it to be this… simple?”
He smiled politely. What? It would have been welcomed, preferred over the executions, but he couldn’t help the nagging feeling that it couldn’t be that easy. Whoever was behind the floating disc from the start of their captivity had yet to have been identified, and wasn’t it that which began the enforcement of the killings? Even if Fukuda and Aojima were out of the picture, Huang Yi believed they were more like… what was the word again? Puppets? Figureheads? Something along those lines.
“I apologize for derailing. I believe that this trial should be focused on finding who had killed Fukuda-san and Aojima-san, correct?”
The decorative knotter dryly chuckled behind a hand. Really now, this wasn’t the time for such speculations. He glanced over at Sayuri.
“There was a laser cutter found in the mine shack, but it is no longer in working conditions. There did not seem to be any dust on any of the tools though. Someone seemed to have done a meticulous job with cleaning. That could be a possibility. Aojima-san’s hand appeared as though it may have grabbed something, but his knuckles appeared, ah, melted?”
He stood aside from his seat and gingerly slid the metal chair back against the table before giving a polite bow to his peers.
“Again, I apologize if this may be an invasion of, ah, privacy, but I will attempt to conduct personal checks. It can be assumed that Aojima-san fell from the Jones floor and into the pool below, but the culprit could have faced the same fate. There were trails of water that led out from the pool. It was quite the journey following it. I understand that there was a, ah, gap in time between the time of deaths and the discoveries, but it does not hurt to check. I am mostly searching for those who may carry the scent of chlorine or, ah, what is the word…? It is the scent for freshly dried clothes? Perhaps shampoo?”
There’s a slight crinkle of his nose.
“Either way, I will be checking on your state of…. cleanliness. It is not an ideal task for me to do, but I suppose it needs to be done somehow.”
