you fold it, put it into your pocket, grab your keys, and start driving.

you find yourself at zico’s dance studio, an unfamiliar yet familiar place to you.

you take one deep breath, reassuring yourself that you’ll be okay.

you step inside - there’s no music and most of the lights are off.

he’s the only one here.

jaehyun.

he’s over by the speakers, cleaning up after practice.

he looks up, locking eyes with you from across the room.

he freezes, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

“…hey.”

you walk toward him, clutching your letter tight.

“hi…i have to tell you something,” you say, your voice quiet.

“okay,” he says softly, with a reassuring smile, “i’m listening.”

you take a deep breath.

“i drove myself here!”

the words leave your mouth before you can stop them.

jaehyun blinks.

“…wow,” he says, holding in a laugh, “that’s…great,”

you wince.

“thanks,” you say, turning around.

“i’m gonna go.”

“whoa, whoa, whoa…”

he catches your wrist, his eyes drifting to the paper held in your hand.

“what’s that?”

you hide it behind you back, “oh, nothing.”

his eyebrows raise, “nothing?”

a grin spreads across his face as he plucks it from your hand.

he unfolds it, reading the first line.

dear jaehyun,

his smile softens as he looks back up at you.

“y’know, if you want me to read this…”

he folds it back up and places it into your hand.

“…i think you need to give it to me yourself.”

your cheeks burn.

“um…can you turn around?”

smiling, he turns around without a word.

you unfold the letter with shaky hands.

you clear your throat.

“dear jaehyun…”

your heart is pounding.

“i need you to know that…” you trail off.

the words feel wrong. too rehearsed.

you lower the letter.

“…jaehyun.”

he turns around immediately.

you look him straight in the eyes.

“i need you to know that i love you, myung jaehyun.”

“in the realest way possible.”

after a few moments of silence, you let out a small, awkward laugh.

“i guess that’s all i came here to say.”

you glance down, beginning to step away.

suddenly, warm hands gently cup your face.

you look back up.

jaehyun is softly smiling, relief clear on his face.

“woaah,” he says, dragging the words with a teasing grin.

“don’t i get a turn to talk?”

you smile back at him.

“the reason i went to yunjin’s room that night,” he begins, things brushing your cheeks, “was to tell her that it’s over for good.”

he swallows.

“because i’m in love with you, y/n,”

your breath catches.

“in the realest way possible,” he smiles.

you giggle, your tears spilling over.

for a moment, you stare at eachother, neither of you moving or speaking.

you reach for him, slipping your hands into his, his fingers intertwining with yours.

you rise onto your toes, and his lips meet yours.

the kiss is gentle, smiles present on both of your faces.

he pulls back, resting his forehead against yours.

“wait,” he says, pulling away enough to see your whole face.

“will you be my girlfriend?” he smiles shyly, “like…real girlfriend.”

a laugh escapes before you can stop it.

“yes,” you say, your smile growing, “of course, obviously.”

relief washes over his face immediately.

“good,” he grins, “because i wanted to do this as your boyfriend.”

he leans in, kissing you again.

his arms slide around your waist, holding you steady as if you’d be gone if he didn’t.

he smiles against your lips, and you smile back.

for the first time in a long time, nothing feels fake, not at all.

as you stare down at your phone, a knock sounds at your door. you quickly wipe the tears off of your face with the back of your hand, attempting to steady your breath.

“come in,” you say, keeping your head down.

leehan softly opens the door, stepping in and pausing.

“y/n…” he says, crossing over to you and pulling you into a hug.

you sink into him, gripping his hoodie as your tears spill out again.

“it’s okay,” he says, a hand moving to pat your head, “we’re gonna fix this.”

you pull back to look up at him, “i know you’re only being nice to me because you feel bad for me.”

“y/n,” he sighs, “i do feel bad for you, but that’s not the point.”

you look back down, sniffling.

“i just don’t understand why you didn’t tell me about any of this until now.”

you hesitate, “i thought you’d hate me.”

his expression drops.

“i could never, ever, ever hate you,” he says quickly. “it’s just.. when jaehyun said that, i thought you were trying to date taesan now or something.”

“you’re my brother,” you blink in disbelief, “i would never even think of doing that to you.”

“i know, i know,” he continues, “but you wouldn’t even call me, so i didn’t know what i was supposed to think.”

“i wouldn’t call because i was lying to every single person in my life,” you admit,” and i knew i could never lie to you.”

his eyes soften at that.

“i just thought..” he hesitates. “i thought you didn’t need me anymore.”

you go silent, before letting out a small, disbelieving laugh.

“leehan, are you serious?” you shake your head, “look what happened while you were gone.”

he doesn’t respond, he just pulls you back into a hug.

that’s when you notice woonhak at the door.

he’s just standing there, trying not to cry.

the sight alone makes your heart ache.

you tilt your head towards him, nudging him to come over.

he does, and a second later he wraps his arms around the both of you, squeezing you tight.

you all sit like that for a while.

no one says anything.

this is what you needed.

leehan exhales softly.

“no more secrets?” he says.

you nod against his shoulder, whispering, “yeah.”

woonhak nods too, tightening his hold.

and for the first time in a long time, you feel like you’re home.
