I think that adding norie as a close girl friend's lucy was a bad idea bcs we can see she couldn't be a friend with girls bcs of her mother self-esteem problems and her old sisters with whom (I think) she was on not so good terms. and when there is norrie lucy already will know how to be friend with girls and probably won't judge girls for make-up care about themselves etc and we just wouldn't get her character development in these traits

I'm too lazy to talk about it more but I hope you will get it. maybe I will write more and better later

what do y'all think Lockwood and co. would be studing at university in a no problem! au? i think Lucy's obvious answer is art, and George's is history, but i'm curious if anyone has different ideas; for holly if we were going related to her canon job at l&co i would say something like law bc offices (or just straight up being a secretary/personal assitant would be an option too), but for something more out there i think fashion design would be fun (and that way she could hypothetically share some classes with lucy). But for Lockwood i'm fully stumped, i think cop would be the most 1:1 option (besides exterminator which would be the literal translation in practice but not in essence) but like, fuck cops so...

Okay listen. I understand that unreliable narrators can be unreliable unknowingly. But it still damn near fills me with rage anytime I see someone refer to Ponyboy as an unreliable narrator.

And while I’m at it, leave my girl Lucy alone, too. Idk what the current discourse among Lockwood & Co fans is, but I hope people have moved on from her being an unreliable narrator simply because she didn’t like Holly at first.

I'm currently reading The Hollow Boy AND LOCKWOOD IS PISSING ME OFF.

This asshole isn't even listening to Lucy whenever she tries to talk about her dislike towards Holly, NOT TO BLOODY MENTION HE HIRED HER BEHIND LUCY'S BACK! AND HE DOESNT EVEN APOLOGIZE?!

Then despite the fact that in the first few chapters Lucy blatantly told Lockwood that she didn't want anyone else to go on missions with them, AND THEN HE BRINGS HOLLY!?

Let me make it clear I don't have any beef with Holly. I think she's great. I also know that this isn't one sided and Lucy's jealousy is part of the problem.

But I still believe Lockwood is in the wrong.

First of all, he hired Holly behind Lucy's back, which I have reason to believe it's intentional because he knew she would protest every applicant. Which yes is wrong of Lucy but Lockwood swears up and down about not keeping secrets and yet he does that.

Secondly he doesn't listen to her. He asks how she feels and then ignores everything else if it's not what he wants to her.

Thirdly he shows much favor towards Holly since the moment she entered their lives and he doesn't even stop to take into account Lucy and how she might feel.

Fourth he knowingly leaves her alone upstairs while he gets his shits and giggles with a girl he said was more then capable by herself. And not only that but he leaves her alone knowing full well she keeps trying to communicate with the ghosts they fight then yells at her and tells her he will leave her all alone to fight smaller ghosts while he takes Holly and George with him.

He knows he and George are the only family Lucy has and yet he stills threaten to leave her FOR HOLLY.

Now, I'm not saying Lockwood should be able to read Lucy's mind. But I am saying that he could understand her if he would stop for one second to care enough to actually ask her how she feels instead of yelling or ignoring her.

One thing I cannot stand people getting mad at Lucy for is her being upset that Holly cleaned her room without permission. Yes, Lucy had her DEFINITE moments of being a jerk to Holly for no reason, but being mad at Holly for going into her private space and moving her personal belongings without asking is not mean of Lucy!!! Lucy grew up not feeling safe or truly at home EVER until Portland Row, and while of course Holly had no idea about this, it's so understandable to me why this would set her off.

I feel like it shows that none of them have any social awareness. Cause the boys should have never hired Holly without Lucy. Nor should they have told Holly to clean Lucy’s room without her permission. Holly should have had better sense to not clean someone’s room without asking and Lucy could have told her “hey don’t do that”. None of them have any adults to teach them things, they don’t go to school so they really aren’t in social settings of course they lack social awareness

i went as lucy last year for one of my halloween outings (it did involve me bringing a massive skull in a jar prop to the club…) but i think i’m going to take a second stab at perfecting the costume this year now that i have a rapier prop at my disposal to go with the skull. i don’t think i’ll go for the show’s costuming bc honestly I don’t really like how they style lucy, no blue this girl is green and brown !!!

Realizing that Lockwood was protecting Lucy the whole time by taking all the fame and attention onto his shoulders. He wasn’t the one who should’ve been praised, it was Lucy. He was just a screen that was pulled down to protect her and her gift.

While I speculate that the show made the decision to nudge up the characters ages so that it was more feasible using older actors as well as to relate more to their target audience, I am bummed that they made Lucy so much older when she is forced to become an agent. 13, I think? While in the books, she's 8. I'm sure there's a reasonable production reason, but it unfortunately turns Lucy into a all too common "reluctant heroine" instead of the "child soldier" that so much of her personality and motivations are carved from. Much of her character flaws, character development, and the situations she finds herself in all revolve around her navigating her narrow sense of self.

It's late and I'm not really sure where I'm going with this, other than it would have been so interesting to see this particular angle play out on screen. I find tv Lucy miles more emotionally intelligent than book Lucy and I'm not sure how believable some of her later actions would have come across on screen. I would have loved to find out though.

I don’t mind the characters being aged up. I will say though that book Lucy’s actions and behaviors would be very odd with how show Lucy acts. Like I can’t see show Lucy acting like how Lucy does in the books. I think she’d be annoyed with that type of behavior

Show Lucy is so emotionally mature compared to the others and book Lucy is one of the single pettiest people on the planet at the start of the series.

Book lucy would hate show Lucy for being emotionally mature and caring about her physical appearance. She’d also hate how show Lucy is afraid of what she does. Book Lucy was fearless. Show Lucy is fearful, but she still does things in face of fear. Show Lucy wouldn’t hate book lucy, but she would be very annoyed with how she behaves.
