Who said anything about you having to come with me? I think you’re kind of inviting yourself to hang out with me, huh. Cause I’ve lived on this island my whole life and I haven’t seen you around before and you kinda just look like one of those girls that come here on vacation and get a tattoo or a shell or something on their ankle and post it to instagram with the caption “island living” or something. That’s really specific but you get it. I think you’re definitely tooting your own horn, actually. But I’m glad you get your bike back. You must be itching to get back to the water. 

Trust me, as lovely as you think your presence might be, I really don’t care if it’s with you or by myself. Just because you haven’t seen me around, doesn’t mean I’m not from here, maybe you’re just not as observant as you think, Shoulders. Fuck no, not me in the slightest, and I take offense you would even suggest that. Just because you look like every other stereotypical guy who thinks the sun shines just for them, doesn’t mean I’d call you out for it. I am itching to get back in the water, in fact I think it’s time for a night swim.

Sorry, lol, you just don’t look like someone who grew up here or that surfs for that matter. Well you’re not so bad yourself. But if you live within walking distance of the water… why does it matter if you have a bike or not? 

How do I know if I can trust you? What if you’re a serial killer and you’re gonna feed me to the sharks? Trust me, bro, it’s good. Why would you assume that? I’ve been surfing since I was ten, got a few trophies under my belt too, not to toot my own horn or anything. I do what I can. Because it’s too crowded at my place by my apartment, to get to any chill spots I’d need my bike, but worry not....I get it back tonight.

Hmm, never thought about it like that. Oh you mean the ones that act like they know how to surf / know what they’re doing? It’s always fun to watch them wipe out a few seconds after standing up. Not doubting it, just stating the obvious that you don’t look like someone who grew up here. More like someone who moved here at about 18 from the mainland wanting to piss off their parents by “rebelling.” Pretty boy? You think I’m pretty? Riiiiight, sure. So convenient your bike is in the shop so you can’t hit the nice spots on the island. 

Yeah, those are the exact people I’m talking about. They get in the way of my spot and honestly it makes me want to strangle them. What does that mean I don’t look like someone who grew up here?? I was born and raised, dude, and I literally live on the beach within walking distance to the water. I’m not blind, bro, you’re good looking. I busted a tire on the way to work two days ago, sue me, if I had my bike I’d already be on the water by now.

I never really understood how Shark Week brought more tourists to the beach, wouldn’t most people not want to go to the beach for like fear of getting eaten by a shark? But you’re totally right, it brings a lot of awareness to em, which is needed so people stop thinking that they’ll get an arm bitten off if they go in the water. Well you could wait till next week or if you were a true local, you’d know about the little safe haven on the North end of the island that most tourists or Anti Shark rally goers don’t make it to. 

Because it brings that idea of the ocean into their mind, if someone see’s something beautiful enough and they can reach it, they’ll go to it. Plus those dare devils who think they are badass and only piss people off are around, which are also a joy to deal with. Are you doubting my local card? Listen here pretty boy, I grew up in the water, I just have my bike in the shop right now so I have no transportation. While I love a good hike, that is too far even for me.

While I am all for shark week and the awesome awareness it brings around those great creatures, I will say it’s a bit annoying with all the traffic it brings into the beach, especially when I’m trying to wind down my day and hear people yelling about how horrible sharks are. They aren’t horrible, they are bad ass creatures, more people die by other humans than they do from sharks. But oh well, come next week it’ll be back to normal and I’ll be able to be at peace again.
