I've cut out my fair share of celebrity pics and brought them in to hairstylists over the years. (For longer than I care to admit, it was one of my life goals to have Britney Spears's long, loose layers on the cover of Baby One More Time.) But it never occurred to me to do the same for a trip to the spray tanner—until I went in for a session with Dante Fitzpatrick at Beach Bum Tanning in New York City. Dante, who's sprayed everyone from Lady Gaga to the cast of the "Jersey Shore," immediately asked me whose skin I wanted, even offering up a magazine for inspiration. With over 150 combinations available at his salon (which offers organic spray tans) I could apparently mimic any epidermis in Hollywood.

In-Booth Sunless Tanner: Sunless tanning offers an alternative that is “customized, very organic and contains no chemicals.” Airbrush Tans: the main difference between spray-tanning in a booth and airbrushing is that a booth gives a more even tan, while airbrushing can lead to a more natural one since the person applying the spray can mimic the way the sun hits your face and body. They can also paint on abs and muscle definition, though that will cost more.
