More human!rocky! I wanted to draw him with some of Eridian Rocky’s mannerisms, to get a better feel of how he would be as a human :) his little taps and jazz hands are definitely becoming stims of mine

My human rocky design! I’m making a very alternative AU where Rocky met Ryland in college, bonding by being some of the only queer folks in their classes in the early 2000s. Rocky is then chosen as the engineer for project Hail Mary, Ryland is still kidnapped etc. Once they find the taumeba they’re sucked through a wormhole which spits them out right back at earth, right after they left. Then, an unidentified object with sm-13 stamped on the side pops out of the same rip in space. Ryland and rocky are obviously now the leading alien experts and are put in charge of the life form inside.

I absolutely LOVE that Human Rocky called Simon "It". That totally won't hurt Simon's very, very limited self esteem at all if he hears it! /s

Yeahhhhh its gonna be ROUGH until they realize Simon is actually a human 😅 I'm sort of revamping my version of him for this au, hes going to be very fish alien, and obviously coming from a wormhole, Grace and Rocky don't know what is regular biology and what is injury, plus hes reading as very radioactive and possibly contagious.

After the Hail Mary Project, the governments of the world have made large strides in working with eachother (which Grace compares to the early years of the federation because he too is a trekkie). This means that Simon's "care" is sponsored by multiple different nations, which is great, but it also means they had to negotiate hard on what proper quarantine would look like, how they would handle communication, etc. So in the end they decided to put the astronauts on the case (after Grace and Rocky were banging on the door to be let into those meetings).

I just finished the manga the other day and I know I’m not the first one to do this, but I just had to design their outfits! Simon’s scalewolf cloak helps him hide his monsterous nature, the tattoo of Eden on his neck had unintended consequences. Grace is doing everything in his power to cure Simon before the Knights Moralis discover him.

k but imagine Rocky wanting to learn about how humans became the apex predators of their planet so he has Grace “hunt” him in the biodome as an experiment and during it he thinks Grace isn’t trying or taking it seriously which is bad bad bad because this is for research purposes

only for Rocky to get more and more tired as the experiment goes on just to realize that Grace isn’t which makes him panic so he puts as much distance as he can between them and finds a (hopefully) safe spot to sleep and when he wakes up the human is crouching over him like “got youuu” and Rocky has never shrieked so damn loud before in his life

I love your version of Rocky as a human and how it stands out so much in the sea of different Rocky designs. I think the hair is my favorite and his little gestures!!

Thank you very much!!! I was a little worried that I tumblr-fied him too much in his design, but I like the idea of him being eccentric and having a specific color pallet for most of his wardrobe because then he doesn't have to worry much about looking presentable. Hes a very practical/blunt person but likes to look nice :)
